Just a fun idea to contemplate. What if we could throw Sonja in different worlds / time eras? Who or what would she be?

Dinosaur Era: Big Red Harry Homo-Sapiens Neanderthal
Feudal Japan: Ninja type Ronen
Current Times: Gangster-Girl
Post Apocalyptic: Mad Sonja complete with Shotgun and dog.
High Tech Future: Smuggler with good morals.
Looney Toons: That big red thing with black high top sneakers.

You all get the idea. What are some of the other ideas out there?

Ok...

... but what would Sonja be like in a contemporary, urban setting; i. e. if you met her on the street somewhere?! (I´m not sure about that gangster-girl; doesn´t seem to fit her, not really...)

... I mean, as a "normal person" (Whatever that means). How would she react to everyday(?) situations (drunks making suggestions, being robbed, witnessing an accident, stumbling upon an opportunity(?),...)

Sorry, I´m not making any sense, even to myself; I think I´ll just be quiet now, thanks...

You are making sense. I meant this topic to be anything from serious to comedic. She could be a duel pen-wielding secretary. But you are right, how would she deal with things such as car accidents, poverty, winning the lottery, etc ...

More than a question of "makind sense", it´s one of people being understanding; thanks! (Oh, and "a duel pen-wielding secretary" is a wonderful idea!)

What I meant was... Let´s assume, that Sonja had grown up next door, nothing dramatic (her origin story) had ever happened to her, she´d be about 20 now (or 30, 40,...); what would she be like? How would she deal with those situations? Would "plain Sonja" become Red Sonja? How?

And as for all those wonderful ideas (Neanderthal to Looney + "Crimson Sonja, Scourge of the Seven Seas"); what would their origins be like? Similar or different to "our" Sonja´s? How? (Anybody?!) What makes a sonja Sonja?!

What makes a sonja Sonja?!

Rape and a Goddess (whether real or imagined).

Rape and a Goddess (whether real or imagined).

Lomax really touches on something here. I like how he points out the "imagined" part.

What if: Sonja found out the goddess of her dreams has never been. She made the whole thing up in her head. So all this divine power she thought she has, never was.

Sort of like Joan d'Arc (sp) and that movie that came out with Dustin Hoffman. She made it all up to give herself purpose. That would stink!

What if the rape never happened? Would the tragic deaths of her father and brothers be enough to push her over the edge? Would she still take up the sword to fight for what is right?

Well I'm not a psychology major so I wont bother going down that road any further.

What if Sonja fell in to "Wonderland"? I don’t think there would be a tea party.

This was meant to be something of a tongue-in-cheek origin story for a possible Western "Sonja"...

It became more of a plain "something"...

Don´t worry, it´s only a few lines...

In some of the later issues of the Marvel Comics Red Sonja, she mentions a fear that meeting her goddess was only in her head and that she's compensating some how for her abasement.

I like that, as it gives her more depth as a person.

Of course this latest incarnation is also good.

But when oh when will they get rid of that stupid chain mail bikini. Enough is enough. ;)

LOL,

Tireen, I dont think he ment it like that. But dont worry I still wont ask you to cosplay that.

I am curious, if someone wants to be your boyfriend, does he have to kick your a$$? ((Joke))

Haha, I didn't think he meant it like that either :p But that was the first thought that came to my mind... and so I just had to say that :D

Nah, my potential boyfriend doesn't have to kick my a**. He can woo me with flowers and chocolate and walks on the beach under the stars :) Oh, and he has to go with me to conventions :p After all, even Sonja deserves a break from her 'regular' life.

Umm, yeaa, good luck with that. ;)

There you go boys, start sending her flowers and make sure you go for a walk on the beach. And most of all listen to what she has to say ... unless you really dont care. But if you succed, you get your Red Sonja live action doll.

Ok,

Because Tireen is a RS lover. Lets compare what she does in real life to what we think Red Sonja would be in our life time. We already had the duel pen weilding administrative assistant. Tireen, if you are willing, what do you do for work in RL? If you dont work then what do you want to do?

Well... I AM an administrative assistant... (no duel pens tho...)/ insurance agent. What I mean by that is that I do all kinds of service work for policies(changes, cancellations, questions), but do not write new business. I am also a full time student, with European Studies major. I THINK I want to be a university professor... or metal jewelry artist... or full time artist... (I used to be art major).

Ok,

So in short she is Indiana Jones, that could bring us to Lara Croft, now give Lara red hair and we have you modern day Red Sonja. Red Sonja the soon to be Professor who has a doctrins in Fine / Ancient Jewelry that loves to raid old temples and in her past time draw beautiful landscapes with her artistic abilities.

Who is next? Lomax? Pvehk? Estee?

Next for what? Telling you what I do for a living? My age? My real name? No, thanks.

OK - I'm insane. I've seen the inside of a psychiatric ward. I take (on doctor's orders) personality-altering drugs every day. I like computers because I can use them to hide from the world. My life always seems on the brink of some great catastrophe. Sometimes, I feel creative.

So if we made a Sonja / Lomax hybrid. She would be a drug induced psychotic flame haired key stroking phenom who wrote creative things from time to time in the modern world. Of course she is insane so we would never know if the people that were hurt in her stories were make believe or the real thing. Ohhh, psycho thriller!

Hey, this should be fun...

Ok, PVehk is my name (or P*** ****** Vehk***, to be precise); I´m a failed student (English, Archaeology, History), a failure as a human being, but people seem to like me...
I don´t drink, I don´t smoke, and I don´t..., but that doesn´t necessarily make me a negative (or neutral, either) person (which I probably am).
I live at my parents´, deliver newspapers to make ends meet (I´m actually quite good at it); I enjoy writing poetry, sci-fi and detective stories (sadly these are the genres I'm worst at...).
...And saddest of all; at 35 I'm too old to be embarrassed by any of the above.

hehe ....

Behold Red Sonja, paper girl elite. No boy shall claim her least he defeat her in a paper stuffing, rubber banding, paper deliver race. The She-devil races around on her BMX dirt bike smacking wild dogs, vagrants, and taking out mail boxes with a swift swing of her rolled up newspaper. Only Bonana the, delivery boy far to the north has proven to be her match. In her spare time she writes horrible poems of sunsets and walks on a beach while waiting for mom to deliver dinner.

Ok, I struggled with this one but it was still fun to read Pvehk's post. Dude, I cant top what you did with this, lol.

Anyone else? Who would Red Sonja be based on your career?

...Bonana sounds like a cool character...

Thanks, P~~! Seriously, that was fun!
