Alex Ross has drawn 'a whole bunch' of heroes for The Project: Super Powers line. I was paging through the pictures and wondered who you guys like best in the line.
How 'bout listing your FIVE favorites!!?? And why... if you want.
Here are mine:
1) The Death-Defying 'Devil
2) The BLACK TERROR
3) THE SUPER-AMERICAN
4) Big Blue, (Blue Beetle)
5) CAT
(This is a big aside: I still wished that the Four Horsemen would do these Project: SuperPowers heroes. I'm a big Action Figure fan...and to see these guys as great looking action figures would really be sooo great.!!)  :D

Five huh
1 Death Defiying Devil (So many possibilities)
2 Arrow (There's something about a bow and arrow carrying hero)
3 Mr. Face (Again the possibilities)
4 Masquerade (The mysteries they've hinted at)
5 Green Lama (Just something about him)
Not interested in
1 Terror (Never liked the dark guys)
2 Flame (Looks like they are going the 'tortured hero' route)
3 Pyroman (to Torch like)
Others that could be interesting
1 Owl (how do they keep him from being a Batman clone)
2 Samson (How do they deal with the 'religious' aspects)
3 Target (The mental link could be interesting)
4 Scarab (A complete remaking of the original)
5 Crusaders (What exactly are they and will one seperate himself from the group)
I know it's more than you asked for but hey!

Frankly, the roster of characters are still appearing. All we know is that they will, at some point, appear. We don't know yet what their appearance may yet bring. For example, who predicted V-Man's slowly spreading ailment?

It might be unfair because of the different time of exposuer in the series so far, and me missing a certain free issue like probably 99% of the folk, but so far it's
#1 - Green Lama
#2 - Daredevil (DDD)
#3 - Black Terror
#4 - Samson
#5 - Hydroman
#6 - The Flame
#7 - Fighting Yank
Thinks could change as the story progress and other characters finally get some serious action time
The Big 3 for me are The Black Terror, The 'Devil & The Green Lama.

I'm very anxious to see if Dynamite will introduce a group comic. These always seem successful and sell very well. Dynamite's problem is that they have such a large selection to pick from and I'm sure lots of fan will be angry that their favorite don't make the team. A group comic doesn't work to well with more than seven or eight members at a time. Once 'Devil gets his voice back, I would like to see him as the leader. Dynamite has 'Devil and Black Terror..two of the all time greatest costumes..these two along with Batman and Captain America were the best designs of the 1940's, in my opinion. I'd like to know who readers think should be on the team.

I'd like to see a more formal group book as well (PS is sort of a group book).
Maybe a east coast west cost thing or a government sponsored and independent.

1: Woman in Red
2: Masquerade
3: Rocketman/girl
4: Green Lama
5: Scarab
I really do hope they do something with Woman in Red. For the first super heroine..technically, she gets no face time. Since she AND masquerade both wear red, it may be redundant. But I hope they do showcase her.
Maybe in old school Anthology form.

Would anyone really be surprize if I said that with the most recent issue release of the series that Pyroman just moves up in my list

Yellow Jacket/"Jack". Why? Because he can control bees. That's an awesome power.

1) Black Terror: You can't go wrong with a classic.
2) Hydro: I'm a huge Aquaman fan..so Hydro just came natural.
3) Masquerade: Gotta Love a Woman in Red.
4) Death Defiying Devil: Less Talk...More Action!
5) Samson: The World needs more biblical Superheros.

Yeah,
1) I like Black Terror because "you can't go wrong with a Classic," too!!
A great looking classic...with real possibilities.
2) Hydro.... because of the Everett tie in... (Sub-Mariner)... and I like the goggles.
3) Yep,... Ya gotta love a woman in red.
4) I like... have always liked 'Devil. (Daredevil)... Those early Cole stories I really liked... especially with 'Devil(3D) going up against one of the Greatest Villains in comicbook History.... THE CLAW("the worst villain in comics"!)!! I hope their "re-union"... becomes the talk of fandom... and is a "classic" rematch of these two great comicbook characters. Good to see ol' "Fang-Face" in SP #5... with THE GIANTS. Alex did a good job on him.
5) Can't argue with you there, pal. More Biblical heroes can't hurt.
6) I was really glad to see "Big Blue" in the line-up. For some reason, I've always liked Blue Beetle in his original costume. I don't exactly know why.
I, of course, really liked the fact that Jack Kirby once drew him... but besides Jack,--- he really never had any good artist depict his adventures. I hope he gets to play a big part in this and we see a lot more of him.
??) I guess Crimebuster, Squeeks, and Iron Jaw just may not make the "cut"!! Too bad. I always liked Crimebuster... and Iron Jaw... and how they always battled away... against each other. Guess that's the way it goes. Can't have Everybody!!
That does leave the name Crimebuster...open.
I wonder what the League, or Group of these SuperPowers heroes will call themselves.?
You guys got any ideas??
I'll suggest the name..... The Crimebusters League!!
Or just .... THE CRIMEBUSTERS!!
7) I always thought that The Green Lama was great because Mac Raboy drew him. It seems you need a pretty good artist to make him "great" again. Someone who has a nice, clean style... like Raboy's.... that gives Green Lama a handsome, heroic face.... and great body language will help.
I don't know much about The Sword, Cyclone, Vulcan, Sub-Zero Man, ... and a couple of the other heroes... so I'll wait to see how this plays out for them.
Seems like a lot of fun ahead. ;)

My faverite as of now is Black Terror, but I would like to see what kind of role American Spirit and Devil play in all this in time. So many fresh and exciting characters, too hard to pick a faverite.

Amen!
6) Without a doubt "Big Blue/Scarab": I too have always held a place in my heart for the Blue Beetle. I picked up DC comics Blue Beetle when it first hit the newsstands and read the comic cover to cover, as I read I discovered that I became more interested in a back story of the original Blue Beetle. Now many, many moons later I have enjoyed reading the adventures of the Original Blue Beetle or sitting infront of my Computer with my kids listening to the old Blue Beetle radio shows. Yeah.....he's number 6 alright.
I have to agree CaptainZero.....The Crimebusters is a perfect group name.

Hey, how can we hear old Blue Beetle radio shows??
That sounds great!!!!!!!
Anybody else got any other name??
The Justice Alliance??
The Legion of Justice??

I'm usually not a fan of the 'tortured hero' bit, but it seems to work for him. I just wonder what will happen to them after the first series. There's a chance AM will pop up in the Black Terror Mini since several 'American heroes' will be involved.

I bought my Blue Beetle radio shows from E-Bay. Fifty shows in MP3 format...think I paid $3 bucks plus S&H.

Yeow!!
thanks, guys!! That's a big help.
I did always like The Blue Beetle.
Like I said,... I hope he gets to play a big part in SP.!!
They can call him "Big Blue Banana", "Big Blue", or.... whatever. It's just nice to see him around.
Any "Good" alternate names for him???
I wouldn't even mind if they called him... The Blue Scarab... and dropped the other guy ... on the cover of ...what #6?? (I know Alex probably loves that guy... but I would prefer The Return of the Original BLUE BEETLE.)
I don't know that anyone except maybe Kirby, ... who's EVER done him "right"... but I still hope... AND yea, i still love the guy. ;)
Holy jumpin' Jihad!!! It seems like we're not getting enough SP's books... fast enough. By now, I would have hoped we would have gotten SuperPowers #6... and the first issue of The Black Terror.!!
I'm thinking this thing should now be "building"!! ... but instead, we're in some kind of a lull.
Anybody else get that sinking feeling??? :(

With everything going on (prelude, Terror ongoing, DDD mini, PS vol 2 and more) they probably just hit a small patch where they are focusing on finishing things and found themselves a little behind on shipping. It's forgivable, it happens to a lot of companies. The 2 instances that I can think of when it got really ridiculous was All Star Batman & Robin a couple years back and Batttle Chasers about 10 years ago, loooong delays.

Hey I just had an Idea (Not saying it's good) but what if Dynamite Ent. put out "Old Time" like radio shows for there Heroes from Project Superpowers. You know like Black Terror...I mean if the old comics are public domain why not use them as a script for the show...toss in a few sound effects and a couple of radio adds for upcoming Dynamite comic releases and "BLAMO!"
But for it to really work it has to sound like "Old Time" radio...Chessey Announcer and all. Put'em up as free MP3 downloads on there website...To my knowledge nobody has promoted comics by "radio" in years. Maybe theres a reason for that...not sure.
Sorry from jumping off track here....just wanted to share the idea I had.

Sounds like a good idea to me. I listen to more radio than any other media.
I grew up with radio. "The theatre of the mind".... is really, really fun.
To create your own "play" with radio is great fun. The Pictures are better on radio... don't they say??!!??
There's a woman I know at work who does radio for the blind. I wanted to take some of the old radio shows that I was familiar with... (like The Shadow, and The Green Hornet)... and see if that organization would let me do a show that re-played these old radio shows!!)
So, Hydro-- I think it's not such a bad idea!! :D
There's a downside, of course. The audience has changed with TV, and all the electronic stuff that's out there today. Would that audience be so retro that they would take the time... and have the fortitude of imagination... to listen to something like radio.???? ....and to listen to these "plays"???
I'm not so sure. A lot of people don't want to read for enjoyment, anymore.(Like us.)
They want to be "plugged-in" for sound... usually music.!! Not story!! :(
Can they pay attention that long?? Do they really want "story"????
For us, it's not so much of a "reach". For some, I think they just don't care.

Great points Captain Zero...sometimes I forget what I like isn't what the majority is into.
The only thing I think of is maybe just doing Origin stories...Black Terror's was like three comic book pages. Hydroman's like five......keep the Old Radio show short and sweet....also giving background info and main characters.
But like you said...story.
Do they want it? In the 90's for the most part I don't think they did...a comic world full of Big guns and Slash pages. Sad really :(

Yes, Hydro...
And sometimes I even worry about the ever shrinking world of comics.
Good quality stories, well-told, well-illustrated... and packaged well will help keep comics from fading away.
That's why I'm always trying to stressing the importance of good stories and art...
and my concern for this line.

I am not high on the radio show myself. If we were to get any kind of media based on anyone from Project Superpowers it would most likely be an animated series. The market for a radio show is just not there.

1)
3) Masquerade: Gotta Love a Woman in Red.
Or THE Woman In Red. :D :D
So far the characters I've liked the most have been (in no order):
Black Terror
Green Lama
Daredevil
Samson
Fighting Yank (there's a whole Hal Jordan/parallax vibe with him, that I find interesting)
I'd like to learn more about:
the Target
Pyroman
the Crusader(s)
the Arrow
And, from the sketches in the back of the issues, I'm intrigued by:
the Green Mask
the Green Giant
Sparkman
Skyman
Radior
Airman
Man of War
Anyone know if they're planning on releasing any trades or collections of Golden Age material with any of these characters?

I'd like to learn more about:
the Target
Pyroman
the Crusader(s)
the Arrow
Those four certainly are ripe with possabilities.
What is the nature of the link between the Targets.
Pyroman seems to be so much more than he was.
Are the Crusaders imperfect clones? Flawed attempts to duplicate the process? Why haven't we seen their face or heard them talk?
Is Arrow going to renew his connection with the government. Does he still kill those he feels deserve it?
oh the possabilities
I did character sheets for most of the characters, incorporating thier past and what little we know about them. They are in a thread somewhere down below.
