...seems to be on DC's flushpoint/wall-punching/collarverse/infinite rebooting/whatever, doday, isn't it?
So maybe it could be a good time to post the link to a review of "The Boys" #55: http://www.comicbookresources.com/?page=user_review&id=3557
I was just thinking... what would've happen if DC hadn't cancelled the series, and "The Boys" was kept in print by WildStorm? What would've happen when the imprint got shut down late last year?

You forgot the greatest crossover of all: "The Drubbing"!
Anyway, from the review, it sounds like we're in for another epic story of Mallory sitting around talking. The problem Ennis has is that he's taking all of these plot lines that sounded SO AWESOME when he only hinted at them, and turning them into absolute turds when he gets around to fleshing them out.
It's easy to see how it's happening: he hints at something, then instead of providing us with a cool and interesting backstory, he simply re-narrates the exact same story, while throwing in a bunch of unrelated crap that nobody cares about. Mallory himself is a great example. For YEARS Ennis has played this "Mallory is so awesome that we can't even show you his face" game with us, and now that we're actually meeting him in the storyline, he's just a boring old fart rehashing war stories, like the granddad on your mother's side that nobody ever visits in the Care Center.
I'm certain that Butcher's "surprising origin" is going to be that he's a sociopathic dick, and Homelander raped his wife. Which, of course, we already knew clear from Issue On.

I finally got to read the new issue. It wasn't as boring as the previous 3. Hughie grows a spine, comes clean with Annie (I wanted it to happen back in "Highland Laddie", but I think it's ok), and apparently Mallory told Hughie everything on behalf of Butcher. All in all, an ok issue. 3/5, imho.

Kamakazi,
You must be a prophet! Isn't that almost EXACTLY how Mallory ends up describing himself...(I paraphrase) "My whole life sucked so much I'm not even a joke....etc. Me and my whole life are dog turds..yadda yadda yadda"... And the founding of the CIA had literally nothing to do with The Boys, but we had to suffer through it anyway...
Ennis made Mallory so weak (at this point) that you wonder why MM would even keep in contact with him... He certainly is not a threat to Butcher (who has an inside track with both Rayner and the President, Dakota Bob.... Monkey won't try messing with him again). I'm still wondering why Butcher waited until AFTER Hughie spoke with Mallory to finish Mallory off.... And why, at this point, Butcher just doesn't kill Hughie is beyond me... Mallory clearly pointed out that he helped give Butcher what he wanted; the means to fight his own private war against supes.... What does Butcher need Hughie for at this point anyway?
Saidestroyer,
You pointed out that Mallory was so weak, it inspired Hughie to actually confront him (without fear) and then openly talk to Annie about the situation between them... Although the talk with Annie was out of fear (for her). I guess we're supposed to believe Hughie is so weak minded that he needed Mallory to see clearly what type of man Butcher is.... Oddly enough, when being told these stories (by The Legend, Butcher, MM and now Mallory), Hughie swallows whatever story is told completely... A true sign of his weak-mindedness...
I wonder what Hughie thinks he's going to do while Annie runs off and hides...
However, it was interesting to find out Butcher had a little brother (which fits with those images from Butcher's mini series)
And was that Vogelbaum's heart that Butcher was chewing on, or some other organ?
I guess I have to update the what we know threads... A disappointing update for Mallory.. :( It had been my hope that Mallory got some earlier version of the Compound V shot... Something a little weaker than Butcher and Frenchie got... Now, that I realize that he was on the same "power" level as Butcher, it makes him even weaker... He was not getting his hands dirty, even when he could have... And he could have gone toe-to-toe with Butcher strength wise, (factoring in age) but just didn't have the guts...

Not what I meant. C'mon, you think I'd be reading a book called "The Boys" if I was -choke- girl? Ha!

What is it that Butcher spits out after he kills Vogelbaum? It must be pretty interesting to get its own panel on the next page, but I have no idea what it is. Vogelbaum's tongue? A piece of his heart? What?
It's making me crazy.
I posted this in the issue #55 review forum, too, because I gotta know. Whatever it was, it looks grody (technical term).

It's a testicle. In Butcher's defense, he didn't mean to bite it off.
