Okay . . . there’s more than enough to complain about with the current handling of Vampirella . . .
I thought I’d start a thread focusing on something more positive for a bit . . .
I’m asking for fans to tell us what their favorite Vampirella “moment” was. This shouldn’t be your favorite story – but should be that one moment within a story . . . a single panel or a moment in a story where something was revealed, or the plot shifted, or something unexpected happened . . . or maybe it wasn’t unexpected . . . maybe it was a quintessential “Vampirella moment.” This could be from the Warren, Harris, or Dynamite eras . . .
. . . so tell us, what was your favorite Vampirella moment?

When Adam allowed her to drink his blood and the scene gets interrupted by Adams father who does not know of their agreement. That was a very very intimate moment that was blown exactly the way intimate moments blow away when interrupted. The perfect scene to show why vampirism and eroticism get together. Early in the Warren era.

Warren Era-That first glimpse of her as she was drawn by Jose Gonzales. I loved the book before, right from the first issue...but I can picture that scene of her, lying in a graveyard just by closing my eyes. Jose changed everything!
Harris Era- When she is about to face an entire graveyard of rising vampires...and it starts to rain, and the Priest she brought along turns the rain to Holy Water. Whoever came up with that scenario was genius.
Dynamite- Seeing Pen and Adam in Scarlet Legion. I hate every sidekick she has been given since some brainiac decided Adam and Pen were passe.

There are too many. To name one seems to soil the others unmentioned. So here's a few:
Warren: Cover of Vampirella 51. Vampi chained to a wall in the background while a snake-charmer-looking dude conjured smoke in the foreground. First Vampirella I ever bought and read. Like all Enrich covers, it told more of a story than a year's worth of Harris issues.
Harris: Morning in America, where Vampi has to suck the essence out of the evil politician (Bane?). The art wasn't sumptuous but Busiek's writing describing the incident was a thing of beauty. He knew how to make Vampi real.
Harris: Vampirella meets Creepy & Eerie. Always wanted to see that and wish we could see more of it. Hey Dynamite! Cross-over with Dark Horse!

My first encounter with Vampi was as a kid my cousin hands me a magazine with no cover on it n says dont let ur parents see this but i think ull like it...It was Warrens #12 and to say i was floored was an understatment, since the mags were in black and white i assumed vampis costume was black until i saw the horror models advertisment in an issue of my wonder woman comic. My 2nd favorite was when i had been sick with the flu n asked my best friend to go to the comicstore n grab me sumthn to read. She returned with Harris's first issue with the Adam Hughes cover, saying i hope u like this one. I couldnt believe it Vampirella was back, in color, n drawn to look as if Gonzalez or Mayo had been Louis Smalls inspiration. I own just about every Vampi comic, magazine, n photo model pic ever printed. I almost Had Barbara Leigh let me wear her costume LOL until she told me it was a size 4 n im a lil curvier then that...LOL...so when i had heard dynamite was relaunching my favorite vampiress i was estatic!!! Pity the feeling was fleeting, im not buying, nor enjoying either of dynamites titles, although i still pick up every issue off the shelf wanting to be pulled into Vampis world her adventures, hopeing to be rewarded with some amazing artwork..sad to say it hasnt happened yet....sorry for rambling guys...just missing my fav comic

Easy. Deaths Dark Angel. When WWWade wants to get bitten
and she refuses. Being a brilliant 10 year-old progeny :D
it was clear to me: Obviously she is a vampire with conscience
and doesn't want to make that bastich immortal.
Meh. This is what you get when you just know Vampirella from
two, three page appearances in a daily newspaper. Brilliant
as my logic was, it was an epic fail :D
Favorite Vampirella story non-Vampirella moment:
When Cryssie Collins turns into Astaroth and makes minced demon meat.
Favorite non-Vampirella story moment: Willa Jane Gornley & Death.
Favorite non-Vampirella story moment with meme potential:
"You sure it wasn't my ankles?"

So here are mine:
Favorite Warren era moment: Pendragon discovers Vampirella in a contemplative moment on the splash page of Vampirella 21 “Slithers in the Sand” . . . Jose Gonzalez’s drawing captures everything . . . the isolation, the pain, the longing, . . . even before reading, you just know what she’s thinking . . . that she’s about to leave. . .
Favorite Harris era moment – Vampirella confronts Madek and Madgalene in the Colorado Mountains they defeat her but rather than kill her and alert Lillth that Vampirella has failed, they wipe her memory-implant false ones, and send her to confront Ethan Shroud and the Cult of Chaos. Old fans may not have appreciated the new origin story . . . but in the early days Harris, at least respected the continuity. This flashback moment fit so snuggly into the Warren continuity, it was downright brilliant.

my favorite vampriella moment would have to be i believe the morrison run? where vampirella is beaten, chained up, shot with tons of poisonous vampire killing toxins and then thrown into a cement cofffin in the bottom of the ocean. just seeing vampirella so helpless/sad/alone remembering the moments of her life on drakulon with her mother and making that heartfelt vow to her. then using those memories as fuel to break free of those chains and punch out of that coffin was a wonderful moment for me. vampirella had a cause back then, a real mission in her life that she was willing to fight/die for and i was willing to take that ride with her.

Are you sure you don't confuse that with the "Angel" Season 3 ending? :D

All of my favorite Vampirella moments are from the Warren era, since that’s almost all I’ve read so far.
The splash page of Warren Vampirella #13 haunts me. This must have been every male reader’s fantasy: Vampirella in his arms, eyes focused intently on him and only him, luscious lips ready for a deep kiss… and any male would be so enraptured, he would gladly, willingly forget about the bared fangs and the bloodlust. Archives Vol. 3 includes a letter from a reader in #16’s Scarlet Flames that called that page “ especially beautiful,” and it absolutely was, and still is.
I also love the small portrait of Vampi in Warren #12, when she first tells Adam about her past. That pensive, detached, and earnest look on her face, and the tiny pictures of a winged Vampirella preying on an innocent victim and a flaming Crimson Chronicles, with Archie Goodwin’s succinct but potent prose, told you everything you needed to know about Vampirella’s origin in one marvelous panel.
José González drew so many impressive images of Vampirella. The 6-foot poster (also on the cover of Warren #19) remained in my mind for years, along with the idea that Vampi was very tall. I recently reread “Isle of the Huntress,” (#14) and literally almost every image of Vampirella is memorable. And I loved the scenes of Vampirella fighting a werewolf, even though there weren’t enough of them.
