I've heard Adam McKay talk about Russell Crowe as Butcher and Aaron Eckhart as The Homelander, along with Pegg. I prefer Stevenson (who worked with McKay in The Other Guys), but could go with Eckhart. I really like those choices, which is saying something considering I hate most comic fan dream casts (basically the ones who would have cast Brando as the Kingpin when he was still alive, and Bruce Campbell and Nathan Fillion in everything).

That depends on how obvious they want to make it that he's not really French. I doubt Statham could do the accent, so they'd probably have to at least hint at it in the first movie if this is going to be a franchise.
