I picked up the latest CSN (Comics Shop News) with my standing order this week (it's a free newprint flier with exactly that - Comic Shop News for those that don't know) and main story was devoted to Red Sonja's 35th anniversary.
Amongst what is planned to celebrate Red Sonja's anniversary, something that really struck me was the following quote from Nick Barrucci of Dynamite Entertainment -
"Look for the return of Thulsa-Doom and a very special cross-over that will make your jaws drop!"
Now c'mon guys...who else could this be, but Conan? If it's Xena or Painkiller Jane, then trust me, my jaw isn't about to drop... :)

I'll be incredibly surprised if that's true. There have been legal blockades against this for years that have yet to be resolved.
But I''ll love it if it is.

Not knowing any details, I would think the only real 'legal blockade' would be that Dynamite has the rights to Sonja and Dark Horse has the rights to Conan. When both properties were owned by Marvel they crossed-over frequently. And if DE can work out cross-overs with Marvel and DC, why not Dark Horse? I wouldn't think it would be more difficult than working a deal satifactory to both companies.
Unless this has something to do with the Red Sonya vs. Red Sonja lawsuit. That could be a whole different ballgame.

Uh, what's the date on that CSN? Are you sure they weren't talking about that Claw thing they did? You might have been given an old issue :p

None, definately not an old issue of CSN.
No date, but it's issue no. 1011.
The reason I say it's not an old issue is that is has January solicitations for many comic companies. Dynamite Entertainment is included and it says that January is the month that kicks off the Red Sonja 35th year anniversary with a Collector's Book celebrating her 35th year and a Poster.
Also Battlestar Galactica issues 0-4 are advertised in a hardcover which did NOT come out last January. :)

Nice sleuthing there, Columbo!
Hey! What if Columbo is the major crossover! Sweeeet! (you've got to know I'm kidding, right? heh heh heh)

I hope everyone listened to the podcast so you aren't disappointed when Dynamite officially announces this crossover. In Joe's own words - "it's not Conan." Though he didn't give any hints to who it will be.

Probably Xena then.
Or maybe Ash.... :D

Yeah it's probably Columbo, I can read the writers' intentions a mile away

Is there a transcript of that podcast anywhere? I'm deaf and can't hear it. :(

Huh, we'll have to see if we can't feed them into soemthign that will spit back text, but in essence, the cross-over being discussed here is not Sonja/Conan...
Or any of the other guess actually ;)

If it's not Conan, then I hope it's Claw. I really enjoyed seeing him team up with Sonja, and was very happy when Wildstorm gave him his own series again... and upset when they cancelled it.
I just hope it's not some unbelievable crossover with a character who doesn't really belong in the Hyborian age, it just ruins the rest of the comic when someone from the future travels back to team up with them.
I'm going with Claw at the moment. This is a perfect opportunity for Dynamite to get Claw as their own title seeing how WildStorm scrapped it fast giving us a real downer of an ending. Also isn't Red Sonja in the near future supposed to be in a age where all the heroes are dead? Seemed like what was happening in Claw #6 to me.

Well, nobody's mentioned Wolfskin or Warlord yet. Plus there's some T&A fantasy comic that's been out in the last few months I can't remember the name of right now.

Skye Runner?
Heh heh heh! No, not Skye Runner. When I posted above, I was actually thinking "Maybe I should put 'No, it isn't Skye Runner I'm thinking of' in my post... nah, bugger it...". Although, Skye Runner definitely includes alot of T&A. Very nice art too, I guess, but I don't collect the series. No, I can't for the life of me remember the one I was trying to think of. I doubt it'd be the one selected for this crossover, though it'd kinda make sense... :D

Skye Runner is definitely not T&A the art style is exaggerated but the story is on Sonja level. You guys should pick it up its really good. What if its another fantasy character like Elric( hey there is a precedent for it you know ConanTB #13-14) or Imaro (I hope) maybe even Kull or Bran Mak Morn in time travel or something.

Oh! No, I definitely don't make the claim that Skye Runner is nothing more than another T&A mag. Tell ya what tonto - seeing as I'm already a big fan of the artwork, I'll go you one better: I'll take-up the challenge you've laid down! After reading your post this arvo, I've scooted in to the local store(s) and picked up all five issues to date. So, I'll give it a go and see what I reckon! :D

UPDATE: Okay, having now read and re-read Issues 1 - 5 several times, I can say that in addition to already having been a big fan of Ale Garza's art for this comic I'm enjoying the series immensely. In fact, I'm very disappointed that it's only a 6-issue run! Heh heh heh heh! :D
