And since they love variants so much, how about they release actual variant comics instead of just the covers, in which the interior art is rendered in black-and-white?

Since it's at page 23 now, I'll echo my old suggestion: the Universal Monsters. Start off with a series called Monsters or something that has them...
Dynamite is known for making new comics based on both popular and obscure characters and franchises, whether it's Robocop or Vampirella, and they're still bringing in new characters to make comics...
To be honest, this reminds me of Sherlock Holmes. A lot of folks were apprehensive by the casting, mostly of the main character, and the trailer set a tone that many felt was wrong for said character...
