Vampirella in street clothes? Meh. I don't care how good the story is, that isn't the Vampirella I want to see. I've always loved her costume and always will and if she's not in it, at least 40% of the time, its not worth it for me.

Sounds like I'll be keeping my money in my pocket on this.
I agree this "no costume at all" Vampirella isn't the Vampirella I want to see (although I'll give it as chance as the costume might be used for dramatic effect as it should be.) I think what is bothersome is that the street clothes change are not for an artistic reason but for Frederic Wertham censorship reasons.

That is ABSOLUTELY untrue, and is completely insulting, to boot.

It was MY choice, not the publisher's, and it was made for specific story reasons.

Let me start by saying I am going 2 b buying these issues as I have supported every Vampirella comic. Having said that I also feel the no costume debate would not have bothered me as much if it had taken place in say the 2nd or 3rd story arch. I feel its a mistake to relaunch the iconic Vampirella comic sans costume. Comic are all about character recogonization and to be honest had this character not been wearing a large gold bat on her shirt I wouldnt recognize her as Vampirella, this is exactly why she appears on the covers in her costume!! As far as the new look goes this is not a sexy Armani suit....the black trenchcoat and pants are way more cliched then a skimpy costumed heroine ever has been. I have no doubt this will b a well written story but Vampi without her classic costume doesnt hold my interest.

I'm with you Mandy! I'm an avid fan and collector - as long as they are publishing her, I am buying! I'm very interested in the new storyline, and would not be so shallow as to stop buying because of a costume change. And I continue to hold out hope that the new team will figure out a way to merge the old costume into the story in such a way that does not turn her into a cheap piece of fluff. The way Gonzales, Mayo, Maroto drew her was not gratuitous. There were no erect nipples, no crotch shots. The costume was incidental to the character. Their Vampi wore it as clothing, not as a pin-up. Jusko draws it like clothing. She's showing skin, but it's just that, nothing more.
