Default Apologies for sounding like a broken record, but

    Greetings, boys.
Sorry if I sound a bit repetitive here, but what has happened to Darick? Has he dropped off the face of the planet? Surely it seems apt that the co-creator of one the best titles on the stands today (no hyperbole) draws the final issues of his own series? What else, besides Butcher, is he working on? Has he had some kind of fallout with Ennis? There have been some amazing artists on this series, but none quite capture that particular flavour (bloody spunk) that DR does.
Nor is their any mention of his status in the latest interviews with G. We need a little Spider to find some answers here, boys.

    cheers

Uh, I don't think much has changed since this:

Reading between the lines, Darick takes longer than some to create his art. So a decision was made to get other artists on board rather than disappoint the readers with delays. His priority seems to have been the Butcher miniseries, so his work is being published right now, if not on the main book.

I really like Darick's work, but there seems to be a lot of support for Russ Braun's work in these forums and I can see why. He draws a fine stump, it has to be said.

Roberton and Ennis have worked together too long and too successfully to fall out, though it looks as if Robertson has occasional disputes with publishers that spill out into the public arena. Shit happens. My money is on Robertson providing art for the final (arcs) to close the circle.

    Smile AC/DC and The Boys

Can we please move away from the incessant warbling about the merits of Darick Robertson over Russ Braun? It reminds me of the never-ending debate about the superiority of Bon Scott over Brian Johnson as best singer for AC/DC.

I think they're both fine artists for The Boys, and I have to say that I much prefer Braun's take on Maeve. The crows feet he draws in the closeups on her face (and Homelander and Butcher, too) are a nice touch. That level of realism is a departure from the more smooth-faced style drawn for most other comic characters in other books.

I hope both Darick and Russ will be drawing comics for as long as they want to.

You're obviously a fair-minded kinda guy, Superhamster. But you're also a sick fucker for fixating over super-milf Maeve's wrinkles.

I think they're both decent artists, but I don't like the way Braun draws Hughie. The character has gone from being a wide-eyed Simon Pegg ingenue to a frowning Scottish terrier. But then, Ennis is writing him like a douche, so what the hell.

Despite all the whingeing, I remain a massive fan of The Boys. I only complain because I care.
