Thread: What's With The Lack of Communication?

I'm on board with that, Leon. I've been reluctant to get into other Dynamite offerings due to my experiences with PSP and some other books. The sudden ending of the Last Phantom story annoyed the hell out of me and the fact that we found out about the end of the Kirby line only because nothing was solicited one month was a slap in the face, as far as I'm concerned. Now every time I see a Green Hornet book in the solicitation, I breathe a sigh of relief.

There is no reason to not continue with this line in some form if you really want to. None. I can understand that you want to make an event out of V3, but you can still keep the line at least semi-active in the meantime. It doesn't have to be any different than how Marvel and DC jump from one crisis or war to another. Between volumes, you can still offer up a Scarlet Sisters mini, a Lama one-shot, whatever. The lack of a "volume" being ready right now does not actually prevent you from using these characters at all.

I ask those questions because for my own part I am a little wary of 'buying into' yet more erratically published lines/books, and I do not want to be in a position of dropping something for a PSU return.

Now if that kind of position was repeated with other customers, then I think that it is valid to suggest that the lack of communication could be hurting other books DE puts out.

Would it be better to say if the line is truly done and over or provide a firm window of return? Would that be less harmful to DE as a publisher? Or am I extrapolating too broadly from one individual experience (my own) to offer a valid perspective for other readers/customers/consumers?
Well, keep in mind that the Kirby line is not completely dead, Nick did say that it would be back in 2013 and they still have the current arc's to finish....though I'm sure they'll continue to be late. Also, they did confirm that they were trying to get a superstar writer/artist team on PSv3, so I guess it's just a matter of relaxing until it happens. Still, I'm VERY upset at the lateness of the Kirby books and the HUGE gap between PSv2 and V3, it really shouldn't be this way and while I don't think it hurts the publishers other offerings I do think they've tarnished the Superpowers and Kirby lines of comics for current and possible future readers.

I honestly don't think we'll ever see either of these series again. Or at least not for a good long time in the future (assuming Dynamite as a company survives years into the future).

Dynamite as a company has been very profitable, trust me.....they aren't going anywhere. As for Project Superpowers and Kirby: Genesis, they'll be back....we just have to be patient (unfortunately). I'm hoping Nick keeps good on his word for a 2013 relaunch of Kirby and the volume 3 of PS, time shall tell.

As a fellow comic reader once said to me... "It's hard to care about a character that's not around". I have become a big fan of The Black Terror and really all of PSP but it's hard to care when there is nothing more to read.

The worse part is that I want to expose readers to PSP but it's hard to convince them to care and invest in these characters that more and more look like they won't be back.

I need communication as the title of thread suggests. I'm thinking that if I don't hear something by September I'll have to consider the PSP Universe finished.

Irish, great point. I enjoy Kirby Genesis when it comes out, but then it totally goes off my radar due to the long hiatus between issues. I was looking over PSP again this past week and remembered how great of a title is. Then I thought "gee, it has been 2 years since the last new issue."

Maybe Dynamite needs to reign back the number and quantity of titles it is releasing to better maintain the current titles that have developed a following.

    Default yeah

Honestly, people who seem "in the know" can keep telling us that a volume 3 is coming but I've long since hit the point of not believing them.

And to answer a previous question, yes, the lack of communication and "hiatus" status does hurt my supporting any other Dynamite Entertainment product. It's not that I dislike Dynamite, dispite my annoyance at the PSP Universe's handling, it's that I don't trust them to finish out a story now. I picked up the first issue or two of Kirby Genesis and decided to not get sucked back in again because I didn't have faith that they'd see it through. It's apparently sounding like I made the right call. I was very interested in the Spider (By David Liss or whatever his name is) but I just couldn't bring myself to give DE another chance. If they're willing to released a whole lines in Kirby Geneis or Green Hornet, or new solo books like Spider... and yet Project Superpowers is still left on the shelf, then that tells me that it's not coming and we aren't getting a definitive answer so that we keep hanging on.

Like someone said, if they were waiting for the right writer for PSP3 (and by the way, you've been waiting far too long for whoever that is DE, start looking elsewhere) then show your fans some respect by giving them between material, such as minis and oneshots... like you did between PSP1 and PSP2. I thought we were going to get that when we got that X-Mas special a couple years ago. I was waiting for that Ghost mini to release, but nothing. Keep your fans there. I highly doubt very many people who stuck through PSP and PSP2 care about PSP3 anymore. In my opinion, Dynamite's killed the franchise with their delays, lack of communication, and lack of respect for the customers who supported the line.

Now, I'm not saying the people at Dynamite aren't good people or a good company. I wish them the best, but I don't trust them to run a line to completion or ongoing. And I won't believe that anything PSP-related is coming again until I see it in a solicitation... or maybe even on the actual shelf. I really hope that happens some day because I loved that line, my favorite comic at its time, but I'm not holding my breath anymore and I'm not bothering getting that "into" something by Dynamite again either.

But as I said... this is all just my opinion.

May just be your opinion but there's a lot of truth in there as well.

I allowed myself to let my hopes get up. I saw the blurb on the home page about three new 2013 calendars from Dynamite and swiftly read it in the hopes that they were putting out a Project Superpowers calendar.

    No such luck.

    Dang.

Would have been a good idea.

    Post Peter Cannon...THUNDERBOLT!!

I have lost a lot of faith in Dynamite. After losing PSP, I didn't chance many Kirby books.

I finally am going to give PETER CANNON...THUNDERBOLT a try. He was one of my favorites at Charlton.
PAM did him well. (And DC did him terribly badly.)

We'll see how Dynamite handles him but I still wait and hope for an All-Star team of writers and artists to return the Project to us.

Even if they have to start again, I would love to see Project: Superpowers return soon!!

And keep Alex Ross on covers. Some of the covers he delivered were "CLASSIC"!!!
