i read the first two issues of this series and yeah, i agree with several of the posters here. this book isn't for me. i'd agree its torture porn. maybe not quite the same level as Saw but its quite unnecessary. some gruesome things happen in the original novels...but as far as i can recall, nothing like these comics.

    Hmmm. I did some research...

Mark Rahner: It takes existing characters into new and nastier territory. I always thought there was room for all different types of stories on Barsoom in addition to the swashbuckling romances. This one is more like Burroughs by way of, say, I Spit on Your Grave, Hostel, The Descent, and maybe even a little Zero Dark Thirty.
CBN: What would you like readers to walk away with after the completion of the series?

Mark Rahner: A feeling of intense unease, followed by a little relief.
Well, people's reactions appear to be what the writer is aiming for...

Well, he appears to have hit the mark he was aiming for. I'm not sure he was thinking about it too deeply, since a number of people seem to have quit after reading the first issue in order to experience that feeling of relief.

After reading this thread and looking at the previews, I think I'll just go from "blissful ignorance" to "blessed relief" and skip the thing entirely.

Some people would say the 1990s, but at least the 1990s had comic books from Malibu and Dark Horse.
I grew up in the 1990's and there was a fair amount of Tarzan in the media. A blonde hair Tarzan series, Joe Lara's Tarzan the epic adventures and Disneys Tarzan. The 2000's thats when things started to dwindle, both comics and multi-media.

I might be in the minority but I'm still loving this book. I think Dejah is raring up to slaughter some green Martian! I like the horror movie tone of this series.

I'm loving it as well. It got me to start reading Warlord of Mars and Warlord of Mars: Dejah Thoris again.

This actually kinda surprised me. More people actually bought Green Men than the main book.

I buy both, so it's not a competition for me, but I found it interesting.

I like the Warlord of Mars but cancelled it way back when. simply because it follows the book pretty much exactly and I read them already.
