Default New Red Sonja Trade paperback

Does anyone know if DE will be releasing Red Sonja Vol 11? the last one I bought Vol 10 covered issues 56-60, and I know we are on comic issues 71 or 72 i think on the news stands. So will they put out another trade covering 61-65, then 66-70, and so on or have they stopped putting them out?

Assuming the 12 issues between #61 and 72 were monthly, this isn't too bad for the comic industry. That's only a year behind. Of course, DC and Marvel have hardcover/softcover programs, so that helps explain why sometimes it takes 18-24 months from the conclusion of the monthly issue to the trade paperback. On the other hand, the way things have been running for a lot of DE's limited series, by the time you see the final issue on the stands, the TPB is being solicited the same month for release two months later.

That said, I'm sure all publishers track the relative sales of both monthly issues and trade collections to determine what the best release schedule is for particular titles. I know in the last year or two, trade paperback sales have begun to drop off from an earlier period of healthy growth (translation: there is a glut in the marketplace, with lots of discounting going on). This has to have affected some publishers and titles more than others. For the past half-dozen years we've slowly been spoiled by an "almost guaranteed" trade paperback release, which has led a lot of people to just confidently skip the monthly comic. Things might not be so "guaranteed" forever.

yeah I no longer buy the monthly book, I wait for the trades. I had been getting the Hardback ones until they stopped those, now it looks like they will stop them all together. Dark Horse has conan GN listed for release all the way into may of 2013. Nothing for Red Sonja at all. I guess it has come to an end. That is sad for me

You can quit your worrying because RS TPB vol 11 Echoes of War is listed in DE's June 2013 solicitations.

The olde seadogge just might buy # 11 just for the cover. Very nice indeed. In view of the time period Eric is working with, between her tragedy and the siege of Makkalet, this does a very nice job of catching the young Sonja. Most sources say that Red was just 17 when she was raped, and in 'Day of the Sword' she says that she has been looking for the man that did it (the guy tied up) for 5 years. That makes her only 22. She must have been one very capable warrior and leader indeed for the king of Pah Disha to choose her to lead his soldiers on that so-called relief expedition. True, her real job was as a thief, but her cover was commanding a sizeable contingent of hardened troops going into a desperate combat situation, something she could not have pulled off unless she had the goods.

Now that I think about it, it's amazing that Marvel was able to get away with this in a CCA-approved color comic in the 1970s. Or was it just in the black and white magazines, and the color comics only made vague references?
