    Default Number 3... Finally

    Hey Boys and Girls,

I just picked up my 3 copies of # 3....regular issue, virgin variant and surprised to have a 'negative variant' and may I say it is a beautiful piece of work. Pastel blue sky, pastel green and brown jacket, I can't really describe or do it justice, but I love it...they are still bagged and boarded .... I'm sitting in my office waiting for the day to end...but when my office door closes at 5 pm, would some one call my wife and tell her I'll be late getting home.

Heh heh heh! I haven't seen it on shelves over here yet! I'm heading into the city today, so they may have it. If not, I'll have to wait until after christmas. D'oh!

    Thumbs up Variants...

    Tommy,

Would it be possible to get Joe's attention on providing more info on Lone Ranger variant cover art...as I said in an earlier post, I got a #3 variant today that I had not seen any advance notice for, while Red Sonja covers are everywhere on this site. Would be nice getting advance visuals on Ranger variants as well.

    Regards,

The variants you're referring to are not like the Red Sonja variants that are heavily promoted. Those are different cover artists doing different covers. The Lone Ranger variants are more 'retailer incentive' variants. They ship like 1 in 25 or 1 in 50 or something like that. There are 'retailer incentive' variants for most DE titles, including Red Sonja (on top of her 4 'regular' covers each month), that do not get heavily publicized. Look at the info for a paticular issue and in fine print it will say something like "Ask your retailer about the virgin cover variant" or "Ask you retailer about the negative art cover variant." These are supposed extra special and extra rare. They do not heavily advertise them, so when you find one you know you found something special.

    Default Variants...

    MMD,

Thanks, I understand the difference but in this case (#3) there is only advice showing a virgin and a foil, here on the DE website, no mention anywhere of a negative variant. If DE is giving dealer incentives then it would help the cause if it made the public aware. I am not sure all store owners make these incentives part of their own customer campaigns.
Some owners depise these variant incentives and that has at times has me finding out about variants on ebay or elsewhere. If I know ahead of time I might be able to work a deal with my particular owner or contact other owners to know if they are taking advantage of a particular incentive.

When it was announced that DE & TOP COW had 3 versions of Witchblade #1 I made sure I was on someones list for all 3.

    Unhappy Adverts

    NO SPOILER.
I got issue 3. i will be posting on what i loved about it in another thread.
i did have a complaint, however.
i found myself still hungry for story (not surprising! {laugh}). I thought, "Gosh, i'd be willing to pay more for even a few more pages of story per issue." and only then realized that out of about 30 pages, fully *10* or more were full page, in-house product adverts! I haven't picked up other comics recently, but isn't this percentage pretty distressing? i was a little discouraged to see where my money was going.-cindy

Here's the official word from Joe:

    Hope that helps, Ranger01!

I must admit - this hadn't really occurred to me. 'Course, I'd always like my comics to be longer, but I always figured having ads was par for the course, y'know? I think off the top of my head the only titles in my stack which are virtually ad-free are The Freak Brothers.

I've been trying to advertise the Lone Ranger Fan Club in the comic, but numerous attempts to do so have failed to get any response from DE.
