Voltron

Bidding is heating up on Voltron, a live-action version of the franchise, with Red Notice and Dodgeball’s Rawson Marshall Thurber attached to direct. The deal’s not done yet, but Deadline is reporting that Amazon Studios is in talks to be home to the giant robot.

Several studios have been in the mix on the property. Todd Lieberman and David Hoberman are on board to produce with Bob Koplar. Ellen Shanman is writing the script with Thurber.

Voltron is based on the Japanese sci-fi series that became the ’80s syndicated show Voltron: Defender of the Universe. It is about a group of pilots whose vehicles join together to form the giant robot.

The Sandman Season 2

Netflix revealed a behind-the-scenes first look on Thursday of Season 2 of “The Sandman,” the ongoing adaptation of Neil Gaiman’s DC graphic novel series, as part of the streamer’s Geeked Week promotional efforts. The season will involve the “Season of Mists” storyline from the comics, in which Lucifer (Gwendoline Christie) abdicates control of Hell and presents Morpheus, aka Dream (Tom Sturridge), with the key to its gates, causing many immortals to try to convince Morpheus to give the key to them. A behind-the-scenes featurette provides a first look at one of those contingents: the Norse gods Thor (Laurence O’Fuarain), Loki (Freddie Fox) and Odin (Clive Russell), who attend what executive producer and showrunner Allan Heinberg call a “banquet” that Dream throws “for all the visiting deities and gods and fairies.” Season 2 of “The Sandman,” which is produced by Warner Bros. TV, is set to debut in 2025. (via Variety)

Elektra’s the deadliest assassin in the Marvel Universe, and this January, her vicious talents will be on full display in DAREDEVIL: UNLEASH HELL – RED BAND! The five-issue limited series will be written by Erica Schultz, continuing her work on the character after hit titles like Daredevil: Gang War and Daredevil: Woman Without Fear. Joining her on this blood-soaked saga will be artist Valentina Pinti (Blade, Immortal Thor). DAREDEVIL: UNLEASH HELL – RED BAND is the latest Marvel Red Band comic series, following the likes of Blood Hunt, Blade: Red Band, Werewolf by Night, and Wolverine: Revenge. Labeled with a Parental Advisory and polybagged to keep those faint of heart for experiencing its intensity, the series allows Elektra to unleash unrestricted bloodshed against her targets as she continues to protect the streets of Hell’s Kitchen as the Woman Without Fear! The violence and the occult swirling across the Marvel Universe find their way to Hell’s Kitchen! As grisly crime scenes start manifesting across the city, all signs point to an impossible perpetrator! Estranged from Matt Murdock, it’s up to Elektra to get to the grisly truth, if she can stomach it! “It’s been such a pleasure to continue writing Elektra, especially donning the horns,” Schultz shared. “In this new series, we have the opportunity to show that just because she doesn’t kill doesn’t mean she won’t make you wish she had. Elektra has been known for her brutality, and we’ll see that on display here. Also, with a Red Band rating, that means we can get real nasty with stuff. Don’t know what I mean? You will. Valentina Pinti and I are very excited to show you this new direction.” Check out Paulo Siquiera’s cover and preorder DAREDEVIL: UNLEASH HELL - RED BAND #1 at your local comic shop today!

The forthcoming Savage Dragon Vault Edition will collect the early creative origins of one of Image Comics’ titular, best-loved characters and longest-running titles. This highly anticipated edition will reproduce Erik Larsen’s iconic, original Savage Dragon miniseries artwork from the ‘90s, plus additional pages from the expanded Dragon miniseries that was released in 1996. It is set to hit shelves this October from Image Comics. This limited print run Savage Dragon Vault Edition oversized (12x17) hardcover will treat fans with special, archival quality reproductions of the art boards for every image that was used for the Savage Dragon #1-3, The Dragon #1-5, and the first Savage Dragon trade paperback, including all covers and pin-ups. It collects Savage Dragon #1-3, plus additional material from The Dragon #1-5, and makes for the perfect addition to any longtime Savage Dragon fan’s library collection. "As an artist who strives to learn, grow and improve, I’m a little embarrassed by these early efforts," said Larsen. "I can’t help but see every misstep and every mistake. But when fans say, 'your old stuff was better'—this is the old stuff they’re talking about." Larsen’s Savage Dragon is the longest-running, full-color comic book series to feature a single artist/writer and first launched, alongside the company’s founding, in 1992. It continues to release in trade paperback and hardcover collected editions and regularly releases new single issues. It is swiftly approaching its next milestone issue, #300. Moana 2 - Meet Simea Moana's Sister (2024)

Moana is officially a wayfinder, but she's also now a big sister. Moana 2, which hits theaters on Nov. 27, introduces a host of fresh faces, but perhaps the most important one of all is a sibling who ties Moana (Auli'i Cravalho) back to home more strongly than ever before. In the sequel, animators introduce Simea (Khaleesi Lambert-Tsuda,) a rambunctious 3-and-a-half-year-old who wants to be just like her big sister. Simea has always been a key part of continuing Moana's story and is a character who's been part of the mix as far back as the early days of development on a Moana Disney+ series, which was then redirected to become this film. Co-director David Derrick Jr. was inspired to create Simea by his own family life (he has a young daughter, Samea) and the age gap between his kids. During the pandemic lockdown, his daughter, now 21, spent a lot of time with his son, now 7 — and their bond was tested when his daughter was able to venture out into the world again.
