Writer Shawn Aldridge ( The Dark and Bloody), and artist Rapha Lobosco ( Doctor Who) have been selected as the creative team to helm what is sure to be the biggest hit of this year's Halloween season, Hack/Slash vs. Vampirella. With the blessing of Hack/Slashcreator Tim Seeley, the two heroines of horror are set to hit shelves October 4th, 2017! Created by writer/artist Tim Seeley and Stefano Caselli, Hack/Slash harkens back to the classic 80's slasher flick, as it follows the story of young Cassie Hack, the very epitome of horror movie clichés: the young woman and lone survivor at the end of every horror movie who then channels her emotional trauma into becoming the ultimate "killer of killers" herself! "Along with a burly protector named Vlad, Hack travels across the country hunting slashers in the vein of Halloween's Michael Myers, Friday the 13th's Jason Voorhees and A Nightmare on Elm Street's Freddy Krueger." Kentucky-born, Oregon-based writer Shawn Aldridge is best known for the horror mini-series The Dark and Bloody (Vertigo/DC) and his creator-owned series Vic Boone. His work has also appeared in American Vampire Anthology Vol 2 (Vertigo/DC), Dark Horse Presents (Dark Horse) and FUBAR (Fubar Press). He has one wife, one kid, three dogs, and a lot of stories to tell. Artist Rapha Lobosco said, "What got me really excited to work on Hack/Slash vs. Vampirella is the possibilities I'll have while drawing the pages. As a big fan of horror comics, I always was fascinated by how those stories are told in comics, how the mood is set up using light and shadows, the way you can play with the layout of a page. Also, Vampirella was always one of my favorite characters, she's been here for a long time and it never gets old - I remember looking at Frazetta's drawing and being amazed by it. By putting her together with Cassie and Vlad I believe we going to have a series with a lot of action! It's going to be loads of fun!" Brazilian comic artist based in Dublin, Rapha Lobosco stood out with his work being published on a few indie comics in Ireland and UK before working as an inker on the 11th Doctor Who for Titan Comics, after that he started to work on the 007 James Bond: Black Box for Dynamite with writer Benjamin Percy and colorist Chris O'Halloran. Oscar winner Russell Crowe (Gladiator) will re-team with his Unhinged director Derrick Borte on the action-thriller Bear Country. Crowe will play aging but formidable club owner Manco Kapak who has been robbed by a masked gunman. Now, his aspirations of selling his club and riding off into the sunset alongside his girlfriend appear more distant than ever. Cartel bosses are breathing down his neck and a young upstart has been posing as the new guy in town eager to purchase the club. Borte, alongside Daniel Forte (American Dreamer), wrote the screenplay based on the Thomas Perry novel, Strip. A Higher Standard will handle sales at the Cannes market. The actress, best known for her key role in You Are So Not Invited to My Bat Mitzvah, has been cast as the titular heroine in Nickelodeon Studios’ new live-action Dora the Explorer feature being made for Paramount+ and Nickelodeon.Alberto Belli, who directed Disney+ holiday feature The Naughty Nine and episodes of Disney show Ultra Violet and Black Scorpion, is helming the new production that has a working title of Dora and the Search for Sol Dorado.Written by J.T. Travis Kelce‘s foray into Hollywood continues with his first major acting job: a role in Ryan Murphy‘s high-profile new FX horror series Grotesquerie. Deadline is reporting that the NFL star — and global celebrity due to his relationship with Taylor Swift — has been cast opposite Niecy Nash-Betts, Courtney B. Vance and Lesley Manville in the upcoming series, which has just started production. Reps for FX, Murphy and producing studio 20th Television declined comment. As is the case with all Murphy projects, details about Grotesquerie are scarce, with no cast members beyond Nash-Betts, Vance and Manville confirmed for the drama, slated for a fall premiere. Grotesquerie is a follow-up to Kelce’s acting debut as host of Saturday Night Live in March 2023. “Wednesday” Season 2 is officially in production in Ireland, with Netflix revealing the full cast for the new season of the hit series. Jenna Ortega will of course be returning as Wednesday Addams, while Catherine Zeta-Jones, Luis Guzmán, Isaac Ordonez, and Luyanda Unati Lewis-Nyawo will all be upped to series regulars for Season 2. Zeta-Jones plays Morticia, while Guzmán plays Gomez and Ordonez plays Pugsley. Emma Myers, Joy Sunday, Hunter Doohan, Victor Dorobantu, Moosa Mostafa, and Georgie Farmer will also be returning, as will Fred Armisen and Jamie McShane in guest roles. Noticeably absent from the announcement is Percy Hynes White, who starred in Season 1 as Xavier Thorpe. In 2023, Hynes White decried a “campaign of misinformation” after allegations of sexual assault were made against him on social media. The third installment in the hit shark thriller franchise 47 Meters Down is launching at the Cannes market. Series creator Johannes Roberts and screenwriter Ernest Riera, who wrote the first two films, have co-written the third installment: 47 Meters Down: The Wreck. Veteran horror director Patrick Lussier (My Bloody Valentine) will direct. FilmNation, the sales agent on the franchise’s second installment, 47 Meters Down: Uncaged, is returning to launch worldwide sales in Cannes. The story will follow a father who is determined to rebuild his relationship with his daughter as they bond during a scuba diving in beautiful tropical waters while exploring a famous shipwreck. But soon after their descent, their master diver has an accident leaving them alone and unprotected inside the labyrinth of the wreck. As tensions rise and oxygen dwindles, the pair must use their newfound bond to escape the wreck and the relentless barrage of bloodthirsty great white sharks. Everything Everywhere All at Once Oscar winner Michelle Yeoh has found her next major starring vehicle in Blade Runner 2099, Prime Video‘s limited series following up the 2017 movie sequel Blade Runner 2049. Details of Yeoh’s role are under wraps, as is the show’s plot. But it marks the latest expansion of the sci-fi franchise based on Philip K. Dick’s seminal novel Do Androids Dream of Electric Sheep?, which kicked off with Ridley Scott’s classic 1982 film, Blade Runner. Production recently began overseas, following a delay of nearly a year due to the double strikes of 2023. While it originally had been set to shoot in Belfast, the show wound up relocating to Prague following the work stoppage. Jonathan van Tulleken (Shōgun) is directing the first two episodes.
