Dynamite is proud to present a brand new series starring longtime Vampirella friend and foe Nyx, coming this November written by Christos Gage (Superior Spider-Man, Batman/Fortnite).

Nyx is the centuries old daughter of a human and the mad god Chaos. Recently the influence of her mortal side has been growing stronger, plaguing her with very human emotions and drives. Though she still has the other side of her that transforms into a flame demon and requires her to feed on the life force of living beings to survive. Can she find her place in this world, or even happiness and love? Or is she doomed to a destiny of evil? When her powerful father reenters her life, that will only complicate matters. And when she and Vampirella meet again, will it be as allies, foes, or something even stranger?

On his approach to the series and the antihero lead, Christos Gage said, "Are they doing good things for bad reasons? Are they fighting to overcome their inherent nature? Are they not sure? If handled properly, I think readers can relate to someone who makes mistakes or bad decisions more than they can someone who always gets it right."

Spinning out of the critically acclaimed 50th anniversary relaunch of the Vampirella mythos driven by Christopher Priest, this new series will also be a perfect entry point for fans curious about the wider world surrounding Vampirella and its most colorful characters. Said superstar vampiress is also set to appear in this series, alongside the first appearance of an exciting new character with a surprising link to Vampi's past.

Writer Christos Gage is joined by artist Marc Borstel (Weapon X, Lady Death), colorist Jordi Escuin, and letterer Taylor Esposito.

Debuting in 1996, created by Tom Sniegoski and Ed McGuinness, Nyx's origins go back even further to the beginnings of the Vampirella franchise. Her father Chaos is one of Vampirella's earliest foes, and Nyx took on that familial duty as the vampiric heroine's nemesis for a new era. In the smash hit Death & Destruction event series, she even killed Adam Van Helsing and then claimed Vampirella's life too, in a timeline continued today by Sniegoski in Dynamite's revived Vengeance of Vampirella series.

A team of talented cover artists get the chance to portray the fan-favorite character for her series. Vampirella fans love Italian master painter Lucio Parrillo, and now he leads the pack for Nyx. Fiery-hot superstar Rose Besch is a perfect match too for this demonic antiheroine. Fernando Dagnino and Greebo Vigonte round out the pack.

NYX #1 is solicited in Diamond Comic Distributors’ September 2021 Previews catalog, the premier source of merchandise for the comic book specialty market, and slated for release in November 2021. Comic book fans are encouraged to preorder copies of the issue with their local comic book retailers. It will also be available for individual customer purchase through digital platforms courtesy of Comixology, Kindle, iBooks, Google Play, Dynamite Digital, ComicsPlus, and more!

RED BEFORE BLACK is a violent, hyper kinetic, women-led Florida crime thriller in the tradition of 2000s-era Vertigo from Grim’s superstar writer Stephanie Phillips, the acclaimed and beloved artist Goran Sudžuka (Hellblazer, Y: The Last Man), colorist Ive Svorcina (Thor: God of Thunder, Secret Wars), and letterer Tom Napolitano (Grim, Justice League). Coming to BOOM! Studios in August 2024. A disgraced army veteran, Val, arrives in everyone’s favorite state: Florida. Her goal? Hunt down an infamous drug runner named Leo. But soon she finds that the pair have an unexpected enemy in common, turning the time-honored game of cat and mouse into something far more sinister! “For me, Florida is like that relative that you make fun of but become defensive about the minute you hear someone else making fun of them. I grew up there…I’ve been chased by water moccasins, had to call someone about alligator removals, thrown more than one hurricane party, and dressed like a pirate for the annual invasion of Tampa’s bay,” said acclaimed writer Stephanie Phillips. “There is truly no better place I could think of to set Red Before Black–a weird crime story with an even weirder setting. Val and Leo might be our main characters, but Florida is ever present and Goran truly draws the s*** outta this curious place that will forever feel like home for me, no matter where I live.” RED BEFORE BLACK #1 features main cover art by Goran Sudžuka with Ive Svorcina and variants by Dave Johnson (100 Bullets), DANI (Catwoman), Cliff Chiang (Paper Girls), and Toni Fejzula (Rumble). RED BEFORE BLACK is the newest release from BOOM! In time for Cartoon Network's The Powerpuff Girls' 25th anniversary, Dynamite and Warner Bros. Discovery Global Consumer Products have two key updates for The Powerpuff Girls fans as the hotly anticipated comic book series approaches its debut, spotlighting two incredible artistic features.

Some eagle-eyed fans may have been able to guess this first bit of news. Karen Darboe's jaw-dropping cover for the first issue featured just Bubbles, whereas each other cover for the debut has the complete iconic trio. Dynamite can confirm that not only are Karen's next two covers for the second and third issues portraying Blossom and Buttercup, but that the set are in fact a single connecting piece for fans to collect and complete for their collections! In addition to the titular trio, the covers also spotlight three of the most iconic villains in the franchise with HIM, Mojo Jojo, and Sedusa.

In addition to her beautiful covers, fans can look forward to even more of Darboe's artwork in the series thanks to the other big update. Kelly Thompson's stories on the series will feature a new unique artist on each and every issue. Darboe herself tags in for the second one, following Paulina Ganucheau kicking off the party. Then Miriana Puglia finishes off the initial salvo for issue #3's interior artwork.

"This project has to be one of my all-time favorites I've taken part in!," said artist Karen S. Darboe. "Being usually oriented to a more realistic style of drawing made this project quite challenging since I was faced with something on the total opposite of the spectrum. I really wanted to honor this fun series I grew up with which, on the top of everything, brought me closer to my two longest standing friends I used to play with! In fact, as soon as the first cover was revealed, I immediately sent it to them remembering the good old days when we wanted to be super heroines like Blossom, Bubbles and Buttercup!"

Darboe's covers for the second and third issue, alongside her and Puglia's story artwork, will be joined by more outstanding covers by Ganucheau, Leonardo Romero, and Nicoletta Baldari.

POWERPUFF GIRLS #2 will be solicited in Diamond Comic Distributors’ June 2024 Previews catalog, the premier source of merchandise for the comic book specialty market, and slated for release in August 2024. Comic book fans are encouraged to preorder copies of the book with their local comic book retailers. It will also be available for individual customer purchase through digital platforms courtesy of Comixology, Kindle, iBooks, Google Play, Dynamite Digital, ComicsPlus, and more!

Fans are invited to join the adventuring party of Jonny Quest and crew this August alongside fan-favorite writer Joe Casey and brilliant artist Sebastián Piriz. The tale celebrates the six incredible decades of Jonny Quest fandom and follows the issue #0 prelude story with approximately 80,000 copies released for Free Comic Book Day this May.

Climb aboard the Sea Quest and get ready to embark on a journey like no other. Legendary boy explorer Jonny Quest is back in action, and joined by the whole beloved cast originally created for the Hanna-Barbera animation line by comic book legend Doug Wildey.

Jonny's father, Dr. Benton Quest, is a genius scientist often leading the way. “Race” Bannon is a special agent tasked with protecting Jonny and teaching him a range of skills. Hadji is the orphaned adopted son of Dr. Quest, and Jonny’s brother. Last, but certainly not least, Jonny’s dog Bandit is always along for the ride.

This batch of characters are all back in four color pages, and they'll be joined by even more unexpected faces as writer Joe Casey hews close to the original spirit of the series, while using a modern storytelling approach in his signature style. This comic series picks up where the original animated series left off in 1964, but fans will be surprised as things quickly take a turn for the uncanny! Now Dynamite and Warner Bros. Discovery Global Consumer Products kick off a new era for the franchise!

"The hope is that we’re maintaining the bouncy spirit of the original TV show," said Casey. "From one episode to the next, Jonny Quest always had a particular dramatic rhythm that was completely unique. We want our book to have that same kind of vibe. Plus, the fact that Benton and Jonny are father and son automatically makes this a generational story. We’re taking that angle and really running with it, taking that specific generational aspect to the extreme in ways that, we think, deepen the characters and give them the proper amount of gravitas that we demand from our beloved genre fiction."

Joe Casey is a certified legend with plenty of experience bringing comics inspired stories to animation and vice versa. As part of the creative group Man of Action, he's played a role in creating iconic franchises like Ben 10 and Generator Rex. In comics, Casey has tackled many of the industry's top titles, while always finding time for his own creations too. He's written for titles including Uncanny X-Men, Adventures of Superman, Incredible Hulk, Cable, WildC.A.T.s, G.I. Joe, as well as Gødland, All-America Comix, and others.

Casey's major co-star on the title is rising artist Sebastián Piriz (We Ride Titans, Deadweights). His fantastic, fluid artwork has been wowing plugged in fans for a while with his fan art, commissions, and process shared on social media. Dynamite and the whole team are excited about Quest being perhaps his biggest showcase yet for fans to enjoy his perfectly matched style.

The title is enhanced by a roster of fully frameable covers by industry luminaries including Chad Hardin (Harley Quinn), Jae Lee, Tom Raney, Bob Layton, and Richard Pace. More surprises may be around the corner, as Dynamite invites some of the most fun names in comics to tackle this icon.

JONNY QUEST #1 will be solicited in Diamond Comic Distributors’ June 2024 Previews catalog, the premier source of merchandise for the comic book specialty market, and slated for release in August 2024. Comic book fans are encouraged to preorder copies of the book with their local comic book retailers. It will also be available for individual customer purchase through digital platforms courtesy of Comixology, Kindle, iBooks, Google Play, Dynamite Digital, ComicsPlus, and more!

With the recent success of X-Men ’97, all eyes are on Marvel Animation and their upcoming projects. ComicBook spoke with Brad Winderbaum, Marvel’s Head of Animation, and he talked about the upcoming Eyes of Wakanda series that is firmly set in the history of the MCU and connected to the Black Panther franchise. "Eyes of Wakanda is an MCU show. This is the history of Wakanda as told through the War Dogs, and it is some of the best animation we've ever done. Todd Harris is the creator of that one. That's just such a cool show." While it was originally scheduled to be released in 2024, Winderbaum said that we’re more likely to get What If…?! season three before this or Friendly Neighborhood Spider-Man, so I wouldn’t expect it this year. There have been unconfirmed rumors that the series will take place in various eras showing us different Black Panthers throughout history. There is also a report that has a previous wielder of the Iron Fist showing up, possibly Wu Ao-Shi, the Pirate Queen of Pinghai Bay who lived around 1545 A.D. and was mentioned as a distant ancestor of Colleen Wing in the Iron Fist series on Netflix.Eyes of Wakanda

We have a better understanding of the Superman timeline and just how James Gunn ended up the co-head of DC Studios. There is a part of the on-line community that blames the Guardians of the Galaxy director for the removal of Henry Cavill as the Man of Steel, but it didn’t quite work that way. When Gunn was brought over to Warner Bros by Mike DeLuca, they had their eye on him to do a stand-alone Superman film separate from the DCEU in the same way Matt Reeves did The Batman and Todd Phillips did The Joker. So, when Gunn says his project always planned on using a different actor for the lead, it is true. Cavill was brought back into the Black Adam movie at Dwayne Johnson’s insistence and had the film succeeded, it probably would’ve continued. But with Black Adam’s lackluster performance and the reception of both The Suicide Squad and Peacemaker, David Zaslav ended the DCEU, Peter Safran was offered the role of overseeing the new DC Studios and he brought in Gunn as his partner for the creative side. The bottom line is Gunn was creating a new take on a stand-alone Superman when he was asked to extend it to cover the whole universe of characters. This was all confirmed by Gunn in a social media tweet where he verified that his Superman film was always separate from the DCEU.  Superman Cast

One of the best moments in the 2024 Academy Awards show as the teaming of Danny DeVito and Arnold Schwarzenegger to present an award because they had both tried to “kill Batman.” The two actors are good friends and have been talking about doing another film together, that is according to DeVito who talked about it on the red carpet for Poolman. “We really want to work together and we’ve been talking about it for quite a while. We’re onto something now, we have a script being written. As soon as that comes in, we’ll know better. But we’ll do it at Warner Brothers, so there you go.” He didn’t go into details, so this could be something new or a sequel to one of their previous endeavors like Twins or Junior. They had previously discussed a sequel to Twins, but: “When we lost Ivan (director Reitman), rest his soul, we were about to work with him again on a sequel for Twins. I think where my head is — and I think Arnold’s in the same spot — we want to work together. We want to do another movie together, whether it’s a sequel or a new element that’s another story. Just has to be good, funny, entertaining for us that fits with our characters, and what people want to see. And that’s what we’re aiming for.”DeVito Schwarzenegger

With Furiosa, Chris Hemsworth is jumping into an existence franchise after having made a name for himself with Thor. But how different is it working on the George Miller directed project from his time in the MCU? “It’s like (what) Kevin Feige has to those films, a depth of knowledge and importance of it all, it feels very familiar. There’s nothing accidental on screen, it has a purpose or needs a purpose.” This is also he first change to play a villain, but Hemsworth had his own approach to that. “I wanted there to be some humanity in him, I didn’t want to see him as the villain. He’s a survivor. He’s doing his best to make it through the next 24 hours like anyone else is. He’s product of The Wasteland. He’s trying to protect his tribe.” The latest Mad Max universe film played at Cannes this past week and had the longest standing ovation of any film, which seems to be how they judge things there.Hemsworth
