Australian actress Ellie Gall (A Midsummer’s Nightmare, Mind Over Maddie) is set for the lead role of Catherine Langford in Stargate Origins, the new 10-episode digital series from MGM and New Form based on the sci-fi franchise.

Written by Mark Ilvedson and Justin Michael Terry and directed by Mercedes Bryce Morgan (Virtual Morality), Stargate Origins will explore a brand-new chapter in Catherine’s early history surrounding the extraordinary portal. The show will follow young Catherine as she embarks on an unexpected adventure to unlock the mystery of what lies beyond the Stargate in order to save Earth from unimaginable darkness. The series will air exclusively on MGM’s new digital platform Stargate Command later this year. In addition, former Stargate Atlantis cast member Connor Trinneer will return to the franchise, playing Catherine’s father, Professor Langford.

Additional supporting cast includes Salome Azizi, Philip Alexander, Michelle Jubilee Gonzalez, Daniel Rashid, Sarah Navratil, Shvan Aladdin, Tonatiuh Elizarraraz, Derek Chariton, Justin Michael Terry and Lincoln Werner Hoppe. More information on those roles will be released in the coming weeks.

Spanning nearly 20 seasons, the Stargate franchise is an award-winning cultural phenomenon. Stargate SG-1 is one of the longest-running sci-fi series in U.S. television history, and the original 1994 Stargate film grossed almost $200 million worldwide and spawned three live-action spinoff TV series.

There is an interesting rumor going around that Avengers 5, which was originally called Avengers: Kang Dynasty but is reported to have changed, is said to be beginning pre-production either late June or early July with actual filming beginning in either December or January. This makes sense timing wise for the scheduled releases and to make any announcements in August for D23. The tricky part is that at this point there is no official director working on the project. We know that Loki’s Michael Waldron was brought in to write the script back in November of last year, which was around the same time that Destin Daniel Cretton exited the film so he could focus on his other MCU related projects. If the timing of all of this is true, then we can expect to have a new director named by D23 at the latest. As for a clarification on the title, that may end up coming with an announcement of a new actor to play Kang which the studio needs to do soon so they can retake control of the narrative if the plan is to keep the time-traveling conqueror as the major villain for the Multiverse Saga.Kang

This is Warner Bros… Reports are saying that Warner Bros TV is in the very early stages of development for a TV series based on the 2006 film 300. The original adaptation by Zack Snyder was based on the 1998 comic book series by Frank Miller and Lynn Varley and featured a fictionalized version of the Battle of Thermopylae during the Greco-Persian War. This pitted King Leonidas (Gerard Butler) and 300 Spartans against the God-King Xerxes (Rodrigo Santoro) and his army of over 300,000. This was the film that got a lot of people looking at Snyder’s work. While there was a sequel film in 2014, the new series is expected to be a prequel. Maybe a young Leonidas, I mean it worked for Sheldon Cooper.300

In the X-Men’s upcoming From the Ashes era, Jean Grey takes to the stars to fulfill her divine destiny in PHOENIX, a new ongoing series by writer Stephanie Phillips and artist Alessandro Miracolo. Today, fans can see all the covers that will grace the highly anticipated debut issue, hitting stands on July 17. Earlier this week in Rise of the Powers of X #5, one of the final issues of the X-Men’s Krakoan Age, Jean Grey was dramatically reborn as the Phoenix and promptly saved all of existence from an all-consuming AI Dominion. It was a battle outside of time and space that will go down in Marvel Comics history, and only a taste of the awe-inspiring feats that Jean will continue to achieve in her new solo series. Reigniting suns, suppressing black holes, taking on the likes of Gorr the God Butcher and Thanos’ Black Order singlehandedly, and teaming up with fellow space-faring heroes like Nova, Corsair, and Captain Marvel—Jean is no longer the Earth-bound X-Man you knew; she’s the Phoenix, now and forever! Glorious adventures await, but while the galaxies beckon Jean for salvation, will they also be reminded of her appetite for destruction? PHOENIX #1’s variant covers include breathtaking pieces of Jean by industry superstars like Rose Besch, Greg Land, Aka, and Peach Momoko. And like many of Marvel’s major launches, PHOENIX #1 will have a fiery Foil Variant Cover—drawn by the legendary Joe Quesada. Phillips teased, “Thematically, I'm interested in exploring the interplay between human and cosmic forces that is happening within Jean. Some in the cosmic universe know her as Jean Grey, and some fear her as the Phoenix. I want us to explore how that will impact her mission as a hero in the stars. The book also looks at the hierarchy of the cosmos and where Jean fits into the hierarchy. There are some incredibly powerful entities out in space... what will they think of Jean's presence as the Phoenix?” Check out the covers now and preorder PHOENIX #1 at your local comic shop today!
