Is this title (Damsels) the Dynamite version of Zenescope's Fairy Tales?

Oddly enough John, I read the first issue yesterday (yes, I know I'm late, but I only get into town to the comic shop once a month these days). I think at the moment 'baffled but intrigued' would be my verdict, but I mean that in a good way and I'll certainly be back for #2.

No, BOTH stole^W were artistically inspirated by Fables.

tony ingram: "baffled but intrigued (in a good way)" is definitley what we were going for. Hope you dig #2!

helwen & shokoshu: Yes, Fables and the Zenescope books are already out there doing their own take on the Fairy Tale world but Damsels is offering something a little bit different. If you enjoy those books then Damsels should appeal as an alternate take on those ideas (like reading any new superhero title along side the other superhero titles you enjoy). If those books didn't hit the right spot for you in the past, then maybe Damsels will. Either way there's more to Damsels than just a rip off - comparisons are inevitable but scratch the surface and you'll find something different underneath. I hope you'll check the book out and make your minds up then.

Damsels #2 goes on sale tomorrow and there's a 5 page preview up now at http://www.dynamite.net/htmlfiles/vi...#previewImages Hope you'll check it out and pick up the book.

Never said it was a rip-off, it's just that I read Vampirella and essentially nothing else.
Meh, it would be interesting to know whether Jasper Fforde and his Nursery crime novels
even predate Fables. Nothing is new under the sun. Our German Minister for Education (!!) gets
impeached for copypasting her Ph.D. thesis. We live in the copypaste age. I should write
a bestseller on that theme. Or better wait for someone else writing it and copypaste it.

Yeah, the shared Fairy Tale / Fantasy world is, of course, a concept that's been played with by many writers. Nursery Crimes started in 2005, I think. Tom Holt's Snow White and the Seven Samurai was 1999 (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Snow_Wh..._Seven_Samurai), and Pratchett's been at it since the early 1980s.

                            Damsels is outstanding

I've been waiting a while to post this. There are many great dynamite titles that I read but this has been an extremely pleasant surprise. This kind of idea is not something I would usually go for, but Dynamite tends to put out awesome stories and after seeing a preview of issue 1 I decided to give it a try. I'm completely in love with the series.

I've read the first 3 issues and i'm eagerly awaiting number 4.

This book is a wonderful of example of how awesome things can be when everyone on the team just meshes well.

Excellent writing, art and coloring. And not just individually, everything is synergistic to telling the story.

The story and the ark work so great together, Its not quite "cute" and not "gritty" but a combination of those.

I also like how the main characters i've met so far are sexy without being outrageous, I don't mean offense to linser's covers, but the characters are sexier inside the book, Rapa doesn't need to do a swimsuit cover to be attractive. She is more attractive in the story...well..

I wouldn't be a comic fan if I didn't point out something I didn't like. The characters Rapa and little mermaid are attractive enough in their realness and/or mutantness that they don't need to be hypersexualized.

One more thing, I hope at some point there is a depiction of a male character that isn't a pompous douche or moron lol. Now that isn't to say that I want the "damsels" to be rescued by some big strong death-knight prince, just the opposite, I want to read their story.

Anyhow, I love the series its light-hearted and serious at the same times..makes me smile when I read it.

                            Bravo-Zulo , on a job well done.

                              Whats the deal.

The comic book store didn't have issue 4 of damsels today. I've been waiting for issue 4 for what feels like an eternity, whats the deal? Is it just the store or is the shipping off please tell me it wasn't cancelled.
