FABIAN RANGEL JR. talks BLOOD BROTHERS #3, on sale in AUGUST from Dynamite!

BYRON BREWER: Fabian, as the third issue of your Blood Brothers series approaches in August, what has been the most satisfying thing to you as its creator in bringing it to Dynamite?

FABIAN RANGEL JR. More eyes on the book! Through the Kickstarter we were only able to reach a certain number of people, and through the direct market we have a lot more readers getting their hands on this fun story.

BB: The Soliz Brothers certainly are not on the same page these days. Is there some quality about Medusa that has created this schism between Diego and his sibling? How deeply will this divide effect the series (non-spoilery answers, of course)?

FRJR: Yeah, Diego and Medusa have a love/hate relationship (mostly hate these days), and like any good brother, Gabe wants his brother to stay out of any potentially harmful situations. We donít get too far into the Diego/Medusa backstory, but by the time #4 rolls around, the rift between the brothers has grown a bit due to pressure from their boss.

BB: Fabian, you really get into the heads of your characters, even the minor throwaway ones. Who has been the most fun character to write while doing Blood Brothers thus far? Why?

FRJR: Actually, itís a tie between all of the villains. I love all of them, and their dialogue is so fun to write.

    BB: Ö A raging Minotaur?!

FRJR: Probably my favorite creature/monster from mythology, so we had to throw him in.

BB: What has it been like to work with Javi Caba? Why is his art such a critical part of your urban series?

FRJR: Javi is blast to work with because he can draw anything. Monsters/great facial expressions, fun action, and yes, environments that range from realistic to the fantastic.

BB: As we approach the penultimate issue of the series with Augustís #3, any story point or device you have not had a chance to use due to space limitations, etc.? Or conversely, is there one you wish had never taken place? (laughs)

FRJR: Nah, thanks to Jim Gibbons we really used our space wisely. Of course, Iíd love to do more comics beyond the four issues, but time will tell on that.
