  • Best of 2006

Gonna throught this out there int he podcast tomororw, but let it be known that this thread is the official home of the "Best of 2006".

Post any thoughts or lists, of anything across the spectrum of entertainment, here. Please include some Dynamite titles if they've made your comics list and please fill it up with non-comics stuff as we all have other interests, right?

The best of 2006 has to include the return of The Lone Ranger to the comics. Best movies included Pirates of the Caribbean, Superman Returns and Cars. Of course, Battlestar Galactica is the best thing on TV (I'd say the comic, too, but I haven't seen it yet).

Dang, forgot TV show. Heroes get's my vote also, only because Lost only had around 6 episodes before all the rest next year where I think it'll pick up the pace.

                Best DVD of 2006

THE TRANSFORMERS: THE MOVIE 20th Anniversary Special Edition

I got this DVD for Christmas. I'm sure many of you can appreciate it. I definitely feel it's the best DVD of '06. It's high time this movie got this kind of treatment! I can hardly believe it's been 20 years since I sat in the theater and watched this.

Hell yeah...I was there 20 years ago, too! I still need to pick this up.

Here are a few of my picks for 2006:

                  Albums:
-Arctic Monkeys, "Whatever People Say I Am, That's What I'm Not"
                  -The Kooks, "Inside In/Inside Out"
                  -JET, "Shine On"

                  Comics:
-Red Sonja - Started picking this series around issue 6 and have been hooked ever since. Found all the back issues, too!
-The Incredible Hulk, "Plant Hulk" - I have never been much of Hulk fan, but I really like what they have done with this series.
-Civil War & Spider-man - Besides the delays, I think this has been awesome. Plus, Spider-man comics needed a good kick in the @$$, and they have delivered.
-Star Wars: KOTOR - Gave it a try and love it! Great comic.

                  TV Shows:
                  Rescue Me, LOST, Heroes

                  DVD:
-Grandma's Boy - I'm not even sure when this movie was in the theaters, but this might be one of the damn funniest movies I've seen in a long time.

                  My greatest moment of 2006:
-Becoming a father!! My first son was born in May!

Dude, I love JET, and I was so pumped about their new album.

I've seen them several times live, too. They came to Cleveland a few years ago and played at this small venue downtown, it was a frickin AWESOME show. (The Anyones/Everyones opened up for them, do you know them?) Then, I saw them two more times when they toured with Oasis (favorite band) in Detroit and Cleveland.
