What do you all think of this? I'm pumped!

Just came across that. I'm going to be all over it.

Dynamite has done a terrific job of late of having its characters spread around. They know the Shadow is a draw, so they team him with those who can use the additional exposure.

I've complained about Dynamite and had reached a point of nearly giving up on the company altogether when it seemed like their problems were never improving, but they've totally won be back, particularly with these mini-series. I look forward to solicitations with as much enthusiasm as when I first got into the PSP stuff. Great fun, Dynamite.

I'm not sure why the Shadow is labeled as "guest-starring" and the book says "featuring Miss Fury and the Black Sparrow". That seems to indicate to me that the Shadow really won't be in it that much (or maybe only in the first issue?) Almost as puzzling is the solicitation copy that says Black Sparrow needs the Shadow's help to recover a "Moon Stone" she stole which was then stolen from her by Miss Fury. Why would the Shadow help one of his enemies to steal? I'm sure I'll probably buy it anyway. Is it in black and white (the title NOIR makes me think it may be), or has it just not been colored yet?

I think this is great news.

I also think this is the way to go with these characters.

The Shadow is very popular right now, currently in 3 soon to be 4 books.

So,seeing as The Spider is about to be crushed, can I suggest a Spider/Miss Fury team up for next year

Masks was a great book and a total success, team ups and short runs seem like a good way forward.

        RALPH.

Sorry if I'm repeating myself, but...

When I first Noir solicited, I believed it was an anthology book, not a limited series.

Now that I know it isn't...I would love to see an anthology book to complement the pulp line. You could even call it, you know...Pulp X or something.

That I know of, those types of books don't tend to do well, do they? I wonder what the best way to go about it would be...

So is this a mini series or an ongoing title? They need a monthly anthology with all of the Pulp characters present.

              She's a 5-issue mini.

It would be great if they could do something like DARK HORSE PRESENTS (only with pulp characters). Realistically though, it seems like a fantasy. Pulp heroes are struggling to find their niche in the marketplace as it is, and anthology titles (even critically acclaimed ones like DHP) don't sell either.

A DHP style monthly book featuring the pulp heroes would be great, but I could only see this happening if Dynamite decided to cancel all of the pulp titles and wanted to consolidate it all into one line of books. I don't see Green Hornet or The Shadow going anywhere anytime soon so I can't see this happening, nor do I want other pulp titles like Black Bat or Miss Fury go anywhere either.

I want to see this line grow!

I can't see a DHP type book working. I'd enjoy it but the pulp/noir characters seems to be a marginal thing. If Dynamite was commited to it as a try out for artists, writers and characters it might work but I doubt it.

DE seems to be doing what they can right by just releasing mini-series. Marketing indicates that people buy #1s more (since it is "new"). On-going series rarely continue for any company other than DC and Marvel.

Perhaps instead on an on-going DHP style title, lets have a series of one-shots under a certain heading like Masks or Noir? I could see one-shots coming from DE emphasizing their Pulp Universe with one-shots called Masks: The Spider versus Green Hornet, Noir: Miss Fury's Rage, etc. Either a series of one-shots or a series of mini-series (without break--follow one Masks mini-series with another).

I need to read my reply for typos and grammar errors in the future. Sorry.

Now that people have had a chance to read issue #1, . . .

. . . how do you folks feel about it?

I wasn't sure about buying this in the first place, but decided I wanted to give it a try.

But between the mediocre-to-awful artwork and the less-than-exciting writing, I wish I had trusted my first instincts. I felt like The Shadow was totally misdrawn and came off like an amateur, and I really don't find anything interesting or worthwhile when it comes to the generic Black Sparrow.

The last-page drawing of Miss Fury and Black Sparrow was stiff and awkward. I'd like to support a title with two female leads, but I can't do it in this case.

I didn't love it, but I wasn't expecting to. Didn't hate it either. What the heck, it's only 5 issues, I'll see where it goes. Have to admit Black Sparrow doesn't really do anything for me.

I liked it enough, but because I haven't read much Shadown stuff, I wouldn't be bothered by him being out of character or some such. I don't know him well enough to tell the difference.

I didn't real get much out of Sparrow either and the art was indeed clunky at times. Still, I'll keep going with it.
