  • Doc Savage needs to team up with Jill Trent , Science Sleuth

    G'day,

The people over IO9 had a recent article on a bunch of public domain characters . Some of which are just ideal for DE.

Consider Jill Trent , Science Sleuth:

"Partially an adventurer, partially a crimefighter, entirely a genius, Jill and her best friend Daisy used their smarts to thwart bad guys. Ms. Trent invented x-ray glasses, indestructible cloth, and much more. Imagine Marie Curie and Veronica Mars, and then you'll have an idea of the awesomeoneness of Jill Trent."

Her sleeping arragement with her friend Daisy are also interesting

She would be a great character for Doc Savage to team up with and probably worth her own book.

Ohh, and don't forget Fatomah is public domain too. Vampy needs to meet her.

Too obscure (and no costume). DE is having trouble selling enough copies of even comparatively well-known characters like Doc Savage and The Avenger -- why purposely choose one that amounted to no more than a footnote in Golden Age comic book history? It's impossible to market to comic shop customers. I'm pretty conversant with Golden Age history, and Jill Trent, Madam Strange, and the Veiled Avenger were the only characters mentioned in the article you linked that I hadn't even heard of.

Nothing particularly interesting about twin beds in a cramped apartment, either.

Fantomah (a sometimes beautiful/sometimes blue-green/skullfaced blonde good girl) obviously needs to get over to Archie Comics and give Sabrina a hand battling Madam Satan (a sometimes beautiful/sometimes blue-green/skullfaced brunette bad girl). Come to think of it, they're kind of like Betty & Veronica with unearthly mystical powers.
