I just found some Great news that every Project Superpowers & Golden Age Comics fans are going to like. It's seems that a toy company named Shocker Toys will be showing off some figures based on the Golden Age versions of Dan Garret's Blue Beetle, The Arrow, Black Terror, Daredevil, and The Heap at this years 2010 Toy Fair.

This would be great news, except I've never been able to find Shocker Toys figures anywhere.

I knew it was only a matter of time before a toy company started making figures of the PD Golden Age characters. I do like the style of Shocker Toys' action figures. They also have the licenses for the Lone Ranger, Zorro, the Phantom, and Who Wants to Be a Super Hero? I would love to see these GA figures.

I am a huge action figure fan, but I would much rather a figure line based on the PSU rather than figures based on GA characters who are doing to look different from their PSP variations (IE: Black Terror). Honestly, I try to personally disconnect the PSP from any previous incarnation of these characters, but thats just a personal preference....

They will be showing them off at this years Toy Fair, and since just about every comic book, action figure, & sci-fi web page is covering it, it's a good bet that their will be some pics of them on-line very soon.

Yuck, these figures didn't come out good at all, especially the Black Terror figure....

Maybe someday we will get lucky and be treated to a real set of PSP figures.

They look like 90 pound weaklings dressed as heros. The articulation looks good, but . . .

Wow. I guess I'm in the minority in that I rather like the look of them. Terror will look better with his cape, I'm sure. Beetle looks good. Heap looks good. Arrow is ok. The only issue I have is that a GA version of Daredevil should look happier. In the GA books he was smiling all the time.

That said, I don't know if I'll be picking these up. The Toyfair pics of the DC Retro Action Heroes reminded me how much I loved my Mego World's Greatest Super Heroes as a kid. I think Golden Age Mego-style custom figures is where I might go. I prefer the simple playable look to today's overly detailed collectible designs.
