Dynamite announces a fun and crazy new crossover for June, Warlord of Mars Attacks. Just when people thought Dynamite could not think of more fun crossovers! Warlord of Mars Attacks takes everything to a new level of unexpected meta crossovers! Who can best defend against a Martian invasion? A fearless human hero adopted by the red planet, the one and only John Carter! After a lander disturbs the Martian surface, everyone's favorite big-headed sadistic aliens lead a brutal invasion force toward Earth. Meanwhile on Earth, a man from 1868 Virgina comes out of stasis. Writer Jeff Parker ( Aquaman, James Bond Origin, Batman '66) is joined by artist Dean Kotz ( Dungeons & Dragons, Krampus). While Omi Remalante Jr. ( Red Sonja, Agent 47: Hitman) and Hassan Ostmane-Elhaou ( Red Sonja, Peter Cannon: Thunderbolt) provide colors and letters, respectively. Spectacular covers will be available by Dave Johnson ( Batman, Deadpool, 100 Bullets), Marco D'Alfonso ( I Am Groot, Vision), Ramon Villalobos ( America, Nighthawk) and retro trading card inspired ones by Ben Caldwell ( Red Sonja, Wonder Woman, Prez). Dynamite is the home for epic crossovers, treating fans to multiverse spanning epics including Swords of Sorrow and Prophecy. John's darling Dejah Thoris has teamed up with both Vampirella and Barbarella! The crew of Battlestar Galactica met...the crew of Battlestar Galactica. Coincidental lookalikes Ash Williams and Elvis Presley teamed up in Army of Darkness/Bubba Ho-Tep. AND Red Sonja & Vampirella are on their way to Riverdale. Plus so many more! If readers liked those, they will love Warlord of Mars Attacks! "John Carter meeting the Mars Attacks! Martians may sound insane, but I assure you it works, because Dean Kotz is drawing the hell out of it. It’s easily the most bizarre sci-fi concept I’ve been able to do yet, and the wildest mashup yet," said writer Jeff Parker. "And if you’re a Burroughs fan, you’ll appreciate some deep cuts that we put in." Artist Dean Kotz shared, "Working on my favorite Burroughs character with Jeff and Nate is a dream come true. Jeff seamlessly drops the original sci-fi swashbuckler smack dab in the middle of a retro alien invasion that spans two planets and hundreds of years. The blockbuster-scale story features so many interesting locales and characters. I never know what Jeff's gonna throw at me next. And, thanks to those nasty Mars Attack! invaders, I get to draw A LOT of fun property damage." Meanwhile, editor Nate Cosby has his own fantastical origin story for this series. "True story, Jeff, Dean, Omi & Hassan came to my house and tied me up and said if I don’t let them make a comic where John Carter beats the holy hell out of the green dudes from Mars Attacks, they were gonna keep me tied up and kick my shins and not let me have cereal. I love cereal, and I don’t like my shins kicked, so I said OK. They let me go, and the comic is fever-dreamingly awesome. So everything worked out in the end." Warlord of Mars Attacks #1 will be solicited in Diamond Comic Distributors’ April 2019 Previews catalog, the premier source of merchandise for the comic book specialty market, and slated for release in June 2019. Comic book fans are encouraged to preorder copies with their local comic book retailers. It will also be available for individual customer purchase through digital platforms courtesy of Comixology, Kindle, iBooks, Google Play, Dynamite Digital, ComicsPlus, and more!

Moana is officially a wayfinder, but she's also now a big sister. Moana 2, which hits theaters on Nov. 27, introduces a host of fresh faces, but perhaps the most important one of all is a sibling who ties Moana (Auli'i Cravalho) back to home more strongly than ever before. In the sequel, animators introduce Simea (Khaleesi Lambert-Tsuda,) a rambunctious 3-and-a-half-year-old who wants to be just like her big sister. Simea has always been a key part of continuing Moana's story and is a character who's been part of the mix as far back as the early days of development on a Moana Disney+ series, which was then redirected to become this film. Co-director David Derrick Jr. was inspired to create Simea by his own family life (he has a young daughter, Samea) and the age gap between his kids. During the pandemic lockdown, his daughter, now 21, spent a lot of time with his son, now 7 — and their bond was tested when his daughter was able to venture out into the world again. Falling in Love on the Path to Hell by bestselling writer Gerry Duggan (Deadpool, X-Men) and Garry Brown (Babyteeth) will kick off an exciting new story arc with two very special Frank Miller variant covers. The next chapter in this epic fantasy romance will begin with Falling in Love on the Path to Hell #5 and hit shelves next month from Image Comics. “Hearing that Frank Miller enjoyed the debut issue of Falling in Love on the Path to Hell sent me into orbit,” said Duggan. “Frank’s directly responsible for my brain marinating in samurai culture, Ronin is a timeless masterpiece and his indelible covers to the American reprints of Lone Wolf and Cub were my gateway into one of the best comics ever made. It’s not hyperbole to say our comic wouldn’t exist without the inspiration from Frank. Our entire team is delighted and grateful that Frank is sharing his talent on a guest cover for the start of our second arc. A true dream came true, and we're so happy that Jock accommodated our request to color Frank. You're getting two geniuses for the price of one.” Falling in Love on the Path to Hell #5 will be available at comic book shops on Wednesday, October 16: Cover A Garry Brown - Lunar Code 0824IM372 Cover B 1:10 copy incentive by Frank Miller & Jock - Lunar Code 0824IM373 Cover C 1:20 copy incentive by Frank Miller B&W - Lunar Code 0824IM374 Falling in Love on the Path to Hell will also be available across many digital platforms, including Amazon Kindle, Apple Books, and Google Play.

This January, writer Steve Foxe (Spider-Woman, Timeslide) and artist Ivan Fiorelli (Daredevil: Woman Without Fear, Timeslide) team up to reinvent what it means to be a teen hero in the Marvel Universe in NEW CHAMPIONS! Last year, fans were introduced to all-new heroes inspired by Marvel icons in the hit New Champions Variant cover series. Since then, readers have been eager for them to make their in-universe debuts, and after a few popped up in various titles over the last few months, they’ll explode onto the page in their very own ongoing series. The group begins with Liberty, Hellrune, Moon Squire, and Cadet Marvel, but will expand quickly over the first arc of the series as more New Champions answer the call! But not all are destined to be heroes and some have dark connections to established Marvel lore that could spell disaster for the fledging team before they can get off the ground. Each New Champion has a story to tell, and together, they have a world to change! Mystery, action, and drama awaits as Marvel Comics’ next beloved teen super hero team assembles! What do four kids whose lives were derailed by Hydra, Scarlet Witch’s mysterious protégé, a cursed roller derby jammer and a Wakandan runaway have in common? Not much! But when Hellrune’s mysterious powers activate to bring them together, they’ll have to learn how to work as a team quickly—or face the wrath of the Cult of Hela! “As soon as I saw the New Champions variants, my mind started racing dreaming up possible origins and powers and codenames for these imagined sidekicks,” Foxe explained. “Reverse-engineering the cast from the covers was unlike any other creative process I’ve ever been involved in, and I’m beyond stoked to debut a whole new class of Marvel heroes (and a few villains!) in NEW CHAMPIONS alongside Ivan Fiorelli, who makes each and every one of these new additions feel like they’ve been part of the fabric of the universe all along.” “I’m really looking forward to diving into New Champions!” Fiorelli said. “What really excites me about this project is the opportunity to bring fresh faces into the Marvel Universe, and explore something completely new. These young heroes have their own stories to tell, and I’m looking forward to seeing how they’ll grow and evolve visually as the series unfolds. I hope readers will enjoy reading our pages as much as I will enjoy illustrating them!” “I’ve been dying to write a teen hero team my whole career—it’s the time in everyone’s life when we’re figuring out who we really are, and adding Norse magic or jet-powered punches or accidental hell portals to that search for identity is a recipe for storytelling gold,” Foxe added. Check out the main cover by Gleb Melnikov and stay tuned in the months ahead for more news about the NEW CHAMPIONS and preorder the first issue at your local comic shop today! ...

The X-Men’s new era is fully underway, and starting this December, fans will experience an epic crossover between two of its three flagship titles in RAID ON GRAYMALKIN! Left broken and scattered in the wake of Krakoa, the X-Men have since regrouped into distinct teams of their own. In Jed MacKay and Ryan Stegman’s X-MEN, Cyclops leads a squad of hardened mutant soldiers out of an abandoned Sentinel factory in Alaska. While in Gail Simone and David Marquez’s UNCANNY X-MEN, Rogue attempts to build a new home with her chosen X-family along with a handful of new students down in Louisiana. Their different approaches to the X-Men’s mission erupts into a tense standoff when a plan of action is needed to take down Graymalkin Prison, formerly Xavier’s Institute! The X-Men’s school has been transformed into a brutal penitentiary for mutants by the callous Dr. Corina Ellis, and her prize inmate is none other than Professor X himself! But after his actions during Krakoa’s fall, is Professor X worth saving? And who or what is the secret weapon that Ellis is confident will protect Graymalkin against any attack? Find out in this four-part mutant milestone that solidifies the X-Men’s post-Krakoan world! "It's been an exciting time being part of the launch of the line of X-titles, but now we're really getting into it- our first crossover!” MacKay shared. “Raid on Graymalkin is going to push the X-Men of both Alaska and Louisiana to their breaking points and set the tone for the future, and it's been great to work with a legend like Gail in bringing it to life!" “Writing in the X-World has been one of the most fun and rewarding experiences of my career,’ Simone said. “Best characters, best art team, best editors and best fellow creators, particularly Jed Mackay, who is just an idea machine. We've been throwing ideas back and forth nearly every day since we all started putting together the bones of what the X-Verse would be like, and I think it helps tremendously that we like and respect each other's work.” “I hope that this is a precursor to more short crossovers,” Simone added. “We love the idea of doing something impactful, where it feels punchy and fast-paced, with some genuine, lasting effects. You can still just read X-Men OR Uncanny and follow the story, but you'll get a bigger, richer picture if you get both. As always, we have the welcome mat out for newbies and long-time readers alike!” ...

DuckTales — woo hoo! Dynamite Entertainment and Disney are excited to fully announce the heralded debut of an all-new DuckTales comic series inspired by the original animated show. It will star some of the most beloved characters across comics, animation, and beyond in their original medium for ongoing monthly adventures with best-selling, all-ages author Brandon Montclare (Moon Girl and Devil Dinosaur, Rocket Girl) at the helm, with Italian virtuoso Tommaso Ronda bringing the fabulous four-color visuals.
Riches are everywhere, you just need to know where to look! The ridiculously wealthy Scrooge McDuck is the most famous resident of Duckburg, but his fortune goes beyond his infamous, jam-packed money vault that he loves swimming through. To the young Huey, Dewey, and Louie, their "Unca's" endless fountain of stories is worth more than any gold. And alongside him, they're always creating new memories and tales to tell. In this new comic book series, the triplets will learn that the most important inheritance they can get from Scrooge is his lifetime of wisdom.
"For months I've been working with a bunch of new collaborators to create some great DuckTales material... but now that it's breaking news, I can't help but think back 35 years," said writer Brandon Montclare. "I was a kid watching DuckTales on TV, along with a pile of other cartoons, action movies, a mountain of of action figures, and stacks on stacks of comic books. There was nothing I wanted more than to be in the comics biz when I grew up. As that dream became a reality, and I got smarter at stories, there's an appreciation for the generations of influence that started with Carl Barks' Uncle Scrooge comics and runs through many creative titans. So, our new comic is timeless and fit for all ages. There's nostalgia for the audience that have enjoyed these characters for decades as well as inspiration for new readers. Because at the heart of DuckTales is adventure: anyone can go out their door or open a book and discover priceless treasure."
The opening story arc of the series is primarily focused on the "core four" of DuckTales and set in Duckburg, as they uncover the town's secrets - and secret treasures. Montclare's formatting of the stories will also intersperse flashback looks at some of Scrooge's past adventures across mysterious islands and other exotic locations, alongside allies and enemies like Launchpad, Glomgold, Webby, Gyro Gearloose, Magica De Spell, the Beagle Boys, and many more. Montclare's ambitious story is matched by the vibrant artwork of Tommaso Ronda. Disney's comics and particularly those starring the ducks are known for featuring work by diverse creators from across the world. Ronda hails from Italy, a country with a deep roster of acclaimed Disney artists and continuing his own portfolio of drawing these characters. The creative team is rounded out by letterer Fabio Amelia. While editor Nathan Cosby keeps the ducks in order.
DuckTales #1 releases November 6, 2024 to treat fans with a special present ahead of the holiday season. It will feature a range of gorgeous covers from the likes of Ivan Bigarella, Francesco Tomaselli, Carlo Cid Lauro, and Alan Quah. Additionally, a classic piece of artwork from the Disney vaults is presented as a special variant cover.
The denizens of Duckburg's all-new adventures will primarily follow in the footsteps of the brilliant original DuckTales show that ran from 1987-1990 and imprinted on a generation of children across the world, and the next ones through reruns and reboots. The show heavily built on a long legacy of the Disney ducks in comic strips and books going back a whopping nine decades, and such legends as Carl Barks and Don Rosa inevitably influence Montclare and the team's approach as well.
Editor Nate Cosby added, "What makes DuckTales unique is that it’s TWO stories in ONE comic: Huey, Dewey & Louie are striking out on their first adventures, while the world-famous Scrooge McDuck continues to seek treasure after an epic lifetime of expeditions. The incredible stories that Brandon and Tomasso are creating will delight fans of the original animated series, and the classic comics by Carl Barks and Don Rosa!"
DUCKTALES #1 is solicited in Diamond Comic Distributors’ September 2024 Previews catalog, the premier source of merchandise for the comic book specialty market, and slated for release in November 2024. Comic book fans are encouraged to preorder copies of the book with their local comic book retailers. It will also be available for individual customer purchase through digital platforms courtesy of Comixology, Kindle, iBooks, Google Play, Dynamite Digital, ComicsPlus, and more! Time Bandits‘ latest adventure has come to an end. Apple TV+ has opted not to renew the series adaptation of Terry Gilliam’s cult classic film for a second season. The news comes almost a month after the 10-episode first season of the fantasy series starring Lisa Kudrow ended its run, released in batches of two episodes weekly. The development is not entirely surprising. Despite the nostalgia factor and mostly favorable reviews (78% on Rotten Tomatoes), Time Bandits, created by Jemaine Clement, Iain Morris and Taika Waititi, did not attract large enough audience and was not able to crack Nielsen’s Top 10 streaming rankings. The cancellation ends a long journey that started more than six years ago when Apple TV+ acquired the rights to the beloved 1981 movie for a series adaptation produced by the now-defunct Paramount Television Studios, Anonymous Content’s AC Studios and MRC.
