Dynamite Entertainment is proud to announce that Barbarella's first ever comic series, timed this coming Fall to celebrate the 55th anniversary of the legendary heroine, will feature the writing talents of industry legend Mike Carey (Ultimate Fantastic Four, X-Men, Lucifer). Additionally, Jean-Marc Lofficier - longtime custodian of the Barbarella brand - will join Carey as supervisor on the project.

"In the 1960s, Jean-Claude Forest's Barbarella was a character who helped to define her era - the first emancipated heroine for a decade that questioned all rules and moral codes," says Mike Carey. "I'm hugely excited to be involved in re-inventing this classic and iconic character for the modern age, and introducing her to many readers who weren't even alive when she first travelled the spaceways."

Mike Carey is a British writer whose work spans comics, books, TV and film scripts, and radio plays. His novel The Girl with All the Gifts was an international bestseller, and adapted by Carey for the 2016 Colm McCarthy-directed film. He's written for DC and Marvel, including acclaimed runs on Ultimate Fantastic Four and X-Men, and with Peter Gross, Lucifer and The Unwritten. His books include Fellside, the Felix Castor series, and The Steel Seraglio (with Linda and Louise Carey).

Created by Jean Claude Forest in 1962, Barbarella was introduced at the heart of the Sexual Revolution, and is forever ingrained in pop culture after Jane Fonda's unforgettable portrayal in the 1968 film. She was a key figure in the fertile battleground of French comic books and the struggle for sexual freedom in the medium, and has not appeared in a new series since her last appearance in the legendary science fiction publication, Heavy Metal.

Senior Editor Matt Idelson says, "I can't begin to express my pride in getting to be part of the first new adventures of Barbarella in decades, and I'm excited for all the comics readers who don't know of her exploits and are going to want to find the original material after reading this book. The bonus of finally getting to work with Mike after years of cyberstalking him is the cherry on the sundae, and if the early going is any indication, this book is going to be amazing!"

Jean-Marc Lofficier says, "Working together with Dynamite on the creative development of a new Barbarella series has been both inspiring and enriching. Julien Forest and I are very happy that Mike has chosen to join our team, and can't wait to see the new directions in which he'll take the book."

"We've stayed in touch with Jean-Marc for quite a few years waiting for the time to be right to allow us to publish Barbarella. Matt worked hand in with Jean-Marc to find the right creator who can capture her voice and bring her to a new audience," states Dynamite CEO/Publisher Nick Barrucci. "We are incredibly fortunate to be working with Mike Carey again. We worked with Mike just after launching Dynamite with Red Sonja, and have been looking for the right project to work on again. And Barbarella is that project! Mike will bring new depth to the iconic character."

Dynamite Entertainment first announced the return of Barbarella to comic books in October of 2016, welcoming the sci-fi icon to their stable of strong female heroines alongside Red Sonja, Vampirella, Sheena, Dejah Thoris (of Warlord of Mars), and more. In addition to original comic book stories, Dynamite can develop Barbarella in categories which include art books and 3D figurines.

Barbarella will be solicited in Diamond Comic Distributors' Previews catalog, the premier source of merchandise for the comic book specialty market, and slated for release this Fall. Comic book fans are encouraged to reserve copies with their local comic book retailers. Barbarella will also be available for individual customer purchase through digital platforms courtesy of Comixology, Kindle, iBooks, Google Play, Dynamite Digital, iVerse, Madefire, and Dark Horse Digital.

Today we are spotlighting three of the fun-tastic collectible crowdfunding campaigns from Dynamite for exclusive comic book variants and deals. All including CGC graded options too!

Dynamite is proud to be one of the leading forces in directly bringing fans exciting collectibles and projects through all of our outlets, including crowdfunding. The more grassroots business model allows for limited editions that could not be produced otherwise, as well as a connection with the fans that allows for realtime feedback with some of the best artists in the industry. Plus all kinds of extra options and add-ons that would not be feasible through a traditional avenue.

Frank Cho's Red Sonja Exclusive Variant

Frank Cho is of course a legend, as any comic fan knows. Through his early work on Liberty Meadows, to blockbuster interiors on Wolverine, Hulk, Avengers, Shanna and more, and his sought-after covers featuring Wonder Woman, Harley Quinn, Vampirella and other fan-favorites, he's at the top of the game. He's portrayed the She-Devil With a Sword before, but never quite like this. As his style has evolved through the years, Frank's figures have matured and the detail he includes to depict different textures is unparalleled. With longtime artistic collaborator Sabine Rich on colors, it doesn't get better than this. Now live on Indiegogo, a new black & white virgin edition is exclusive to the campaign and limited to only 50 copies! As well as not previously offered graded copies.

Hip-hip-hooray! It is Friday! And on top of that silly rhyme and the upcoming weekend, we've got a fun surprise for Dynamite fans today. Two more beautiful covers are available for the new Miss Fury: Joy Division original graphic novel. They're live on the campaign now and you can see them below! We're calling them "The Red Fury" and "The Black Fury!" As the new featured reward tier, you can get both as a package and save on shipping!

First up is the Red Fury, with Maria and colorist Ceci de la Cruz's now-iconic image of Marla Drake all dolled up. This gorgeous piece of art just happens to be from one of the earliest pages that Maria drew for the book and that we showed to all you fans. The immense love of this page has made it just as prominent as the covers, and it's found its way onto a promo trading card and now here. Isolating the art and putting it over a clean black background really accentuates Maria's beautiful work!

The Black Fury is Billy's new cover, and is another homage to original creator June Tarpe Mills and her controversial costume-changing scenes. This one is the most risque so far, but in a classy way. Please note that the black bar below and on the campaign will not exist on your finished copy...

And guess what? Billy and Maria are soon to be live on Youtube at 3 PM EST talking about these new covers and how the campaign is going so far! Join by clicking right here!

Miss Fury artist Maria Laura Sanapo sat down with Deanna Destito of ComicsBeat to discuss her latest project, her rising career, and what it's like being a woman drawing female characters in comics. She also dives into teaching at the Joe Kubert School and more. You can read the article here!

"I think that nowadays women are finally playing their own role without being anyone’s shoulder or waiting a hundred years to be saved by some prince charming riding a horse. (I would prefer a motorcycle XD). I’m happy for that, but it doesn’t mean that now men have to succumb."

Maria is one of the most talented artists working with Dynamite today, or in the industry in general. She continues to dazzle with her spectacular work on every project. If you're excited for Miss Fury, take a crack at some of her other projects like our Archie Comics crossover and Sheena the Jungle Queen.

Of course, make sure to head to the campaign page and support her latest! And remember, at $100,000 she'll be getting a sweet bonus as well. Only the fans can help make that happen!

Dynamite unveils the Cosplay Celebration of the year on Indiegogo! Up right now, fans can get deals and bundles on cosplay collectibles and more.

As one of the only publishers prominently featuring cosplayers consistently on covers, Dynamite is proud to work with these talented members of the comics and geek community. There are few ways for someone to express their fandom and craft at a higher level than some of the top cosplayers, who spend countless hours on costuming, hair, makeup and more, sometimes to wear and portray it for just a single day. The art of cosplay is in the roots of Dynamite and its biggest characters, with signature 1970s Red Sonja artist Frank Thorne hosting look-a-like contests at early conventions and Barbara Leigh gracing the cover of Vampirella back in 1978. The cosplay cover has always been tied to Vampirella, with models like Sascha Knopf, Julie Strain, Maria Di Angelis and more representing the character in the Harris era.

This new celebration of that legacy tips its hat to all the great cosplayers who work with Dynamite today, month in and out. Names such as Ashley Du, Jackie Geohner, Joanie Brosas, Jenifer Ann, Shannon Kingston and many more have featured on covers as Vampirella, Red Sonja, Dejah Thoris, Sheena, Barbarella and others.

In the campaign on Indiegogo, collectors can get several special packages. For just $5, the cosplay covers for all three latest first issues of Vampirella, Red Sonja and Dejah Thoris can be had, with assorted extra issues too! Or choose your favorite character and get a big helping of cosplay covers for them. Special edition trading cards signed by Ashley Du, Jackie Goehner, Shannon Kingston and Jenifer Ann make an appearance as well. ...

Dynamite announces its trio of exciting, newsbreaking virtual panels for this year's virtual San Diego Comic Con. Fans can tune in across three days in July for deep dives on the latest series announcements, teases for future plans, and commentary on their favorite comics from some of today's top creators.

Though circumstances are different this year, with fans having to engage with a "virtual" convention experience, Dynamite is showing up in full force to this seminal annual event in comics, with heavy-hitting reveals and more. This marks exactly a year after Dynamite kicked off celebrations for Vampirella's 50th anniversary with the debut of the new series written by Christopher Priest and a star-studded panel. It was an anniversary extravaganza, with Dynamite as a publisher also celebrating 15 years in business. And last but certainly not least, Executive Editor Joseph Rybandt sat down with legendary artist Darick Robertson to discuss a massive career in comics and the then around the corner release of the streaming adaptation of his co-creation The Boys.

This year anniversaries officially come to a close, but the party never stops. Across three stacked panels featuring a diverse lineup of talent, Dynamite fans will get the scoops and enjoy discussion of their favorite titles.

On Thursday July 23 at 11 AM PST, all things Bond, James Bond 007 in comic books will be discussed by a deep roster of writers. Current writer Danny Lore (Ironheart) is joined by preceding 007 chronicler Greg Pak (Star Wars, Incredible Hulk) and Reflections of Death contributor Mark Russell (Red Sonja, Swamp Thing). Editors Nate Cosby and Matt Idelson chime in as well. And the real surprise guest is... Steve Orlando of Martian Manhunter and Wonder Woman ...
