Marvel’s Merc with a Mouth meets DC’s Dark Knight this September in MARVEL/DC: DEADPOOL/BATMAN #1, the first of two crossovers between Marvel and DC more than twenty years in the making! Produced by Marvel, DEADPOOL/BATMAN #1 will be followed by BATMAN/DEADPOOL #1, produced by DC and on sale this November. DEADPOOL/BATMAN #1 will be written by prolific Spider-Man comics writer and co-writer for Marvel Studios’ Deadpool & Wolverine Zeb Wells and drawn by industry superstar Greg Capullo, an artist with an incredible legacy at both legendary comic book companies, with influential work on Batman and X-Men titles. In addition to the main story, the one-shot will feature a lineup of jaw-dropping backup adventures, each featuring Marvel and DC character match ups that are sure to thrill every comic book fan! More details on these backup stories and their creative teams will be shared at a later date. It’s the crossover you never expected but always wanted! Deadpool and Batman cross swords and batarangs as Marvel and DC unite for the first time in decades! Wade Wilson has been hired for a job in Gotham City, but will the World’s Greatest Detective help him or destroy him? “After writing Amazing Spider-Man for 60 issues, I told Marvel I needed a break. Marvel told me I could do that or I could write a comic starring Deadpool and Batman with the best Batman artist of our generation. I no longer needed a break,” Wells said. “In Batman we've found someone who has even less time for Deadpool's antics than Wolverine, but a city-wide threat from the Joker makes strange bedfellows (literally, if Deadpool had his way). It's been a blast letting Deadpool loose in Gotham City and watching what happens.” “Am I dreaming? This crossover is likely to be the high point of my career...and, I’ve had a great career,” Capullo added. “Some of my earliest work (many years ago) was on X-Force, so Deadpool and I go way back. More recently, I spent 10-plus years drawing Batman at DC. The idea that I get to do a crossover event with Deadpool and Batman...If I am dreaming, please don’t wake me!” Check out Capullo’s main cover and stay tuned for more news about DEADPOOL/BATMAN #1 in the weeks ahead.

The Kick-Ass team is getting back together, with prolific comic book scribe Mark Millar and artist John Romita Jr. reteaming for the new comic book Psychic Sam. The book launches on Kickstarter today, and centers on a man who knows about murders before they happen, with a voice in his head telling him the name and address of future killers. “It’s about a guy with a big gun who goes out and solves problems. He hears voices in his head that tell him to kill bad guys,” Millar said. “The only trouble is, the bad guys haven’t done anything yet. But every time he ignores it, someone innocent dies. It’s only a matter of time before the bodies pile up.” Millar and Romita struck gold 15 years ago with Kick-Ass. Now, the pair hope to repeat the success, with producer Ivan Atkinson coming aboard to develop Psychic Sam as a feature film. Atkinson is known for his work with Guy Ritchie, producing films such as The Gentlemen and Wrath of Man. With the Kickstarter now live, Millar and Romita are offering a number of incentives, including the chance to be drawn into the book. (via The Hollywood Reporter)

If you’re creating a list of the best villains in the MCU, there’s a good chance you’re going to include Kilgrave as played by former Doctor Who alum David Tennant. The mind-controlling menace was the main villain in Jessica Jones season one and helped set the series as a fan favorite among the Marvel Television offerings. But there is another character in the MCU that Tennant would liked to have portrayed, something he revealed this weekend at the MCM Comic Con in London, telling the audience. “In terms of superheroes, I don’t know, I did slightly have my eye on Reed Richards, and unfortunately, it looks like they’ve gone in a different direction, although if it has to be someone, I’m happy for it to be Pedro Pascal, frankly.” He went on to say why he’d want to be Mr. Fantastic, “I would have quite liked to be Reed Richards, I’d quite like to be able to do all that,” he then mimics using Reed’s stretching ability and made marching sound effects. “So I’ll stick with that even though it’s gone, even though it’s gonna be a while before there’s another go at that, I think, unfortunately. I think Pedro Pascal is great. I’m very, very pleased that he exists.”

Prolific fantasy writer Brandon Sanderson has multiple successful series including the Mistborn and Stormlight Archive sagas, both part of his Cosmere arc of inter-connected novels. He was also tasked with finishing Robert Jordan’s Wheel of Time series after Jordan’s passing. The author has announced that there will be a third era for his Mistborn series, to be called the Ghostbloods Trilogy, that will take place 50-70 years after Wax & Wayne. Sanderson plans to start on the third book this year and will complete all three books prior to publishing the first. The Mistborn series is based on a universe where certain people are born with the ability to digest metals to unlock superhuman abilities. It’s a unique and interesting way to create powers for characters and leads to some very unlikely heroes and villains. Sanderson has also dived into the world of comics with his original graphic novel series White Sands from Dynamite Entertainment.

If you saw the new live-action Lilo & Stitch film this weekend you may have noticed a character missing from the original animation version. Captain Gantu of the Galactic Federation is no where to be seen and according to director Dean Fleischer Camp, this was to “free up real estate”. He told Cinema Blend, “Gantu was one of those things that just didn’t work so well in live action. We explored it a bit, but ultimately, we had to make the decision. And also, I do stand by the decision, because I feel like a lot of the things that, in trying to ground these characters more and tell a story with a little more emotional depth, especially between the sisters. I feel like you have to free up real estate to allow that breathing room to do those things.” Gantu, originally voiced by Kevin Michael Richardson, was the one trying to apprehend Stitch.

Prime Video has officially canceled The Wheel of Time after three seasons. The series was based on a fantasy book series written by Robert Jordan, later completed by Brandon Sanderson after Jordan's passing. The series consists of 14 main books and a prequel, set in a richly detailed world where magic, prophecy, and epic battles shape the fate of civilizations. The decision to not continue was primarily financial, despite the show being well-received creatively. The third season, which concluded on April 17, 2025, was praised as the best yet, but declining viewership and high production costs led Amazon to pull the plug. The season finale was designed to provide some closure, but fans are still disappointed that the series won’t continue.
