Rob Liefeld is done with Marvel. The comic artist and creator says that after more than thirty years, he is severing ties with the publisher for whom he created renowned characters Deadpool and Cable.Liefeld laid out his decision in a 90-minute episode of his Robservations podcast as well as in a followup interview with The Hollywood Reporter, where he detailed a series of perceived slights at July’s New York premiere of Deadpool & Wolverine. At the premiere, Liefeld learned he and his family were not invited to the afterparty, something he was accustomed to attending. He also felt snubbed by Disney brass, including Marvel Studios boss Kevin Feige, whom he says was near him on the red carpet but did not acknowledge him.“It was meant to embarrass, diminish, defeat me,” Liefeld said on his podcast of not gaining access to the after party. And there was another apparent slight: Liefeld said he posed for professional photos with creatives on the Deadpool & Wolverine team, but later was told by his publicist that those photos were deleted. He believes they were only taken as a courtesy and not intended to be used, though other photos, featuring Liefeld alone as well as with his family, appeared as part of Disney’s Getty press portal from the event.Soon after July’s premiere, he decided he would cut ties with Marvel, which he believed no longer wanted him around. “At some point, you go, ‘I’ve received the message, and the message is clear,'” he said on the podcast. “Victorious” has another spinoff in the works, with Daniella Monet set to reprise her role as Trina Vega in a multi-cam Nickelodeon comedy with the working title “Hollywood Arts,” Variety has confirmed. The series, which is in development and has not yet been greenlit, will follow Trina as she returns to her old stomping grounds to teach students at the fictional Los Angeles performing arts high school. It would mark the second spinoff of “Victorious,” following “Sam & Cat,” starring Jennette McCurdy and Ariana Grande. Casting is underway for the spinoff, and it’s unclear whether any other “Victorious” stars — including Victoria Justice — will reprise their roles in “Hollywood Arts.”

Kiernan Shipka (The Last Showgirl) and Mckenna Grace (upcoming Scream 7) have signed on to star in The Nowhere Game, a survival thriller to be produced by Erik Feig’s Picturestart. David Charbonier and Justin Douglas Powell (The Djinn) will direct off a script by Alex Pototsky, which made the 2023 Black List. WME Independent and UTA will co-rep domestic rights, with WME Independent handling international. The film follows Carin (Grace) and Allie (Shipka), whose road trip takes a harrowing turn when the two young women are kidnapped by a cold-blooded sadist and thrust into a brutal game of survival. With a short head start, Carin and Allie will be set loose in the forest with limited supplies while being hunted in front of an online audience watching in grim fascination. With no sign of civilization and no way to call for help, the women rely on their wits and each other to evade capture. Navigating the hostile wilderness, they discover eerie clues left behind by previous “contestants,” painting a grim picture of the stakes they face. As the hunter closes in, realization dawns on them: surviving isn’t just improbable — it’s nearly impossible. Carin and Allie must shed their fear and transform from prey to predator to bring this twisted game to its final, bloody conclusion. (via Deadline)

Ben Affleck is ramping things up on his upcoming Netflix thriller Animals. He not only will direct the pic but star as well, Deadline is reporting. Insiders add that Gillian Anderson also is aboard. The plan is for the film to shoot in Los Angeles from a script by Connor McIntyre and Billy Ray. Plot details are being kept under wraps other than the film revolving around a kidnapping. Affleck was eyeing this film as his next directing outing last year but was only planning to direct, with Matt Damon in line for the starring role. A holdup with the rights delayed start of production, and Affleck ultimately had to move on to a sequel to The Accountant with Animals pushing. Affleck still wanted to make Animals, and after starring alongside Damon in another Netflix and Artists Equity crime thriller RIP, which will bow later this year on the streamer, saw an opportunity to make Animals his next movie.

Character details for both actors are being kept under wraps. The series is set in an alternate reality of Marvel’s New York City, 1930s era, where we find Spider-Man Noir is an aging private investigator and the only superhero the city has. The first trailer for The Fantastic Four: First Steps teases a retro-future world and an impending threat from Galactus, one of Marvel’s most famous antagonists. The Fantastic Four is one of the most anticipated Marvel movies in some time, as fans have waited years for the Kevin Feige-led studio to make a film starring Marvel’s First Family, as the team is known. The Fantastic Four are a cornerstone of the Marvel Universe in the comics, with writer Stan Lee and artist Jack Kirby’s 1961 Fantastic Four No. 1 launching the universe. But the property has never had its due on the big screen. It spent decades at 20th Century Fox, which made a pair of middling movies in the 2000s and a universally reviled 2015 feature. (A 1994 Roger Coreman-produced Fantastic Four was famously never released). The Fantastic Four: First Steps has a July 25 release date.
