Barbarella, the sexy science fiction heroine created by Jean Claude Forest in 1962, will return in all new comics and more in 2017 from Dynamite Entertainment in conjunction with her 55th anniversary!

The character was introduced at the heart of the sexual revolution of the 1960's, and is forever ingrained in pop culture after Jane Fonda's unforgettable portrayal in the 1968 film. She was a key figure in the fertile battleground of French comic books and the struggle for sexual freedom in the medium, and has not appeared in a new series since her last appearance in the legendary science fiction publication, Heavy Metal.

The new comics will be supervised by Jean-Marc Lofficier, who worked in the mid-90s with Jean-Claude Forest, the character's creator, on a sequel project.

"This is the first step in a multimedia approach designed to herald the return of Barbarella," says Jean-Claude's son, Julien Forest. "We are particularly happy and proud to take that step together with Dynamite, which has showed great respect for so many other classic characters."

"Barbarella will be right at home here at Dynamite alongside such heroines as Vampirella, Red Sonja, and Dejah Thoris," says Dynamite CEO and publisher, Nick Barrucci. "This is a day I have looked forward to since we started publishing! Jean Claude Forest's creation has influenced pop culture from comics to music, and is long overdue for new adventures!"

"I've always been a fan of stories that have a real message hidden within an engaging and entertaining package. Barbarella's message was about the freedom of self-expression, and while it sadly was missed by the majority of readers at the time, enough people figured it out for the character to endure," says editor Matt Idelson. "Getting the chance to participate in creating new stories for an all-time (and all-time underappreciated) classic like Barbarella is beyond a dream come true!"

Look for updates on Dynamite's upcoming Barbarella publishing program in the coming months, with a new series launch planned for 2017.

Dynamite Entertainment and IDW Publishing announced today an epic crossover series from writer Scott Duvall (Narcopolis: Continuum) and artist Vincenzo Federici (Pathfinder: Spiral of Bones) where two cult classics clash for the first time with Army of Darkness/Bubba Ho-Tep!

In Army of Darkness/Bubba Ho-Tep, Ash embarks on a soul-searching road trip to Texas on a hunch that Elvis Presley may still be alive and kicking (and supposedly vanquished a mummy)! What follows is a series of universe-spanning events that involve an Elvis jumpsuit with special time-travel abilities, a trip to 70’s Vegas, plus the reveal of an evil new Book of the Dead, the Necronomicon Ho-Tep.

“Being a huge fan of the character of Ash, and by extension, actor Bruce Campbell, I was instantly drawn to the movie Bubba Ho-Tep, based on an original story by the great Joe R. Lansdale, and starring Campbell as Elvis. Immediately upon release, I added it to my DVD collection, and I would group it with Army of Darkness because it felt like a companion piece to it,” said author Scott Duvall. “Often viewing them in close succession, I knew the Ash and Elvis team-up would go together like peanut butter and banana. These two worlds already fit so well together in tone, it made it totally plausible that they could co-exist on the same plane. Wanting to see what it would be like if Ash and Elvis interact is a big part of what sparked this, and so I'm thrilled we'll get to finally see that in these pages. ”

Bubba Ho-Tep creator and author Joe R. Lansdale added, "Script and artist for the first issue of Army of Darkness vs Bubba Ho-tep are as delicious as a fried peanut ...

Dynamite Entertainment announces a Kickstarter campaign for the first-ever resin statue for the Pathfinder Roleplaying Game. The publisher continues their strong partnership with gaming leader Paizo Inc. following years of expanding the lore of the game’s world. Backers can preorder their copies of the limited-edition statue and bundle in a range of extras currently available only through the Kickstarter.

Seoni, one of the most popular iconic heroes in the Pathfinder universe, was an obvious choice for the statue. The powerful Varisian spellcaster is perfect with her intricate tattoos and patterned clothing. The high-quality resin statue stands approximately 12 inches tall. The tattoos and other details like “dirt” and battle damage are all hand painted.

The statue is available in multiple variants. A “Spellcasting” edition portrays Seoni using her signature magic using a plastic energy effect. The “Battle Ready” edition swaps that out for her staff and an alternate pose. The Spellcasting version is available unpainted for the DIY enthusiasts.

Supporters can choose among a range of reward tier options, including Dynamite’s well-received comics, from the recent Spiral of Bones series to a complete set of nine graphic novel volumes – over 1,600 pages of Pathfinder content! Another option is the campaign setting book Sandpoint, Light of the Lost Coast signed by author James Jacobs. And of course, t-shirts! Or go big and get all the above!

Most exciting is the opportunity for tabletop devotees to collaborate with Dynamite and a professional sculptor to develop and create 10 custom pewter miniatures up to 35 millimeters tall.

“We've been creating great Pathfinder comics with Paizo over the last half-decade, but today, I’m immensely excited to announce the expansion of that partnership, starting with our first Pathfinder statue of Seoni,” shared Nick Barrucci, Dynamite Publisher/CEO. “We worked hand-in-hand with our friends ...

James Bond Origin

Dynamite Entertainment is delivering great quality -- and quantity -- with its Bond comics these days, and James will land in a surprising but seemingly appropriate place as James Bond Origin hits the November/December issue of Playboy Magazine.

A special 6-page story from James Bond Origin, which recently debuted at Dynamite, has been produced by the creative team of writer Jeff Parker, artist Bob Q, colorist Jordie Bellaire, and letterer Simon Bowland for Playboy.

Like the comic proper, the story deals with a teenage James and his adventures during World War II.

In a way, the inclusion of Bond in Playboy recalls a tradition of sorts begun when the magazine printed an Ian Fleming short story, The Hildebrand Rarity, in its March 1960 issue.
