Vampirella & Capcom's Darkstalkers Cross Paths! Tim Seeley Leads Long-Desired Crossover Epic!
| July 16, Mt. Laurel, NJ: Dynamite Entertainment and UDON Entertainment are excited to announce a crossover fans have been craving for years! The first-ever pairing of the video game sensation of Capcom's Darkstalkers and the first lady of comic book horror Vampirella is coming this fall!
The Daughter of Drakulon and hunter of the night is on the trail of a soul-sucking succubus whose habits defy those of earthbound fiends. Meanwhile Morrigan, princess of the demon realm of the Makai, has been shirking her royal duties and sneaking away to Earth to indulge in the delicious dreams and souls of lowly humans. In this hotly anticipated crossover, the two women engage in a cat and mouse game across New York City. They're both aware of their own shocking similarities as outsider monsters on Earth, unique vampire-like creatures. An explosive curveball gets thrown into the mix when it turns out they're both being tracked by the notorious monster hunter Baby Bonnie Hood!
This historic, can't-miss Vampirella vs. Darkstalkers comic book is written by superstar Tim Seeley, master of scintillating horror tales like Hack/Slash, Revival, and Chaos!, as well as mainstream smash hits including Nightwing, X-Force, Godzilla, and more. He's joined by rising star artist Drax Gal from UDON's stable, a perfect fit for this title with his style blending Western comics art and manga influences.
"I love crossovers, which I'm sure doesn't surprise anyone," said writer Tim Seeley. "And I especially love ones that can unexpectedly delight, and come out of nowhere. Vampi vs Morrigan is all of those things, with the added bonus of being sexy, and drawn by Drax Gal. It's vampiress anti-heroines from games, comics, modern and retro, mashing it up with lots of teeth and skin."
To capture these two iconic vampires together in all their glory, a sensational roster of cover artists has been assembled including Lucio Parrillo, Francesco Mattina, Björn Barends, Joseph Michael Linsner, as well as Drax. Collectors can opt for the limited edition mystery blind bag for fun surprises and the rarest variant covers possible!
The beloved Darkstalkers franchise has been taking quarters and wowing fans with gorgeous artwork for over 30 years. Capcom's fighting game series takes classic horror monster tropes and adds their signature style and lore to bring them all together. Beyond Morrigan and B.B. Hood who are confirmed for the story so far, other fan-favorite characters including Felicia, Lilith, Jon Talbain, and Victor von Gerdenheim across some of the covers. Readers will have to tune in to see who might show up!
Vampirella celebrated five fabulous decades of comics publishing a while back, going back to 1969 and debuting with iconic contributions from comics, horror, and fantasy art icons including Frank Frazetta, Forrest J. Ackerman, Trina Robbins, and Tom Sutton. Through the years, she's been a hostess of anthology yarns, at the forefront of the "bad girls" trend, and driven by some of comics' most prestigious writers and artists.
