Sheena Swings into Fans' Collections
With J. Scott Campbell Statue from Dynamite in July

April 23, Mt. Laurel, NJ:
Dynamite announces for July 2019 a drop-dead gorgeous statue of Sheena the Jungle Queen, based on the equally impressive cover art by J. Scott Campbell.

resize.jpgSculpted by Steve Kiwus, the piece stands 10.5 inches tall on a 7.5 inches sturdy base - coming out to 1/6 scale. Sheena is cast in high quality resin with hand painted details including her leopard print tunic and the vine-covered logs.

Sheena's historical importance cannot be overstated. Created way back in 1937 by the legends Will Eisner and Jerry Iger, the Queen of the Jungle served as the flagship character of major Golden Age publisher Fiction House. In her stories and across their line, female characters were aplenty and often depicted as capable and heroic rather than damsels. All the while behind the scenes, several early women artists were illustrating these tales like Lily Renée, Ruth Atkinson and Fran Hopper. In addition to good girl art legend Matt Baker. Sheena broke boundaries by being the first female character to have their own self-titled comic book!

Today Dynamite continues Sheena's legacy with books written by Marguerite Bennett (DC Comics Bombshells, Batwoman) and Christina Trujillo alongside artists Moritat (Harley Quinn, The Hellblazer) and Maria Laura Sanapo (Red Sonja & Vampirella Meet Betty & Veronica) and alongside Tarzan in Lords of the Jungle by Corinna Bechko (Star Wars, Planet of the Apes) and Roberto Castro (Turok).

"Sheena holds such a special place in comics history, as the flagship hero of a great Golden Age publisher, all the boundaries she broke and as a continued inspiration to artists and fans," said Nick Barrucci, Dynamite CEO and Publisher. "Dynamite has been lucky to continue that legend - especially with beautiful covers from artists like J. Scott Campbell. Fans are going to love having this breathtaking cover come into three dimensions and into their collections!"

The J. Scott Campbell Sheena Statue will be solicited in Diamond Comic Distributors’ May 2019 Previews catalog, the premier source of merchandise for the comic book specialty market, and slated for release in July 2019. Comic book fans are encouraged to preorder copies with their local comic book retailers.
