July 25, Mt. Laurel, NJ: Fans of any of Dynamite's comics, projects, and creators are invited to a special celebration and informal party marking 20 fabulous years of publishing and connecting with fans! This San Diego Comic-Con panel looks back through the legacy of the premiere publisher and also eyes the future.
This panel will take place on Friday July 26 from 11:30 AM to 12:30 PM in room 5AB.
Dynamite founder, CEO, and Publisher Nick Barrucci leads the ceremony, and brings with him Executive Editor Joe Rybandt, who has been the lead editor at the company through its entire history. The historic publisher started up in 2004, kicking off with a rapid-fire run of innovative and lauded comics like Army of Darkness, Red Sonja, The Lone Ranger, The Boys, and so many more. Through the swaying of a complicated and passionate industry and fandom, Dynamite has kept relevant and always leveling up through working with the best creators, licensors, and delivering incredible stories and products to fans.
These key figures from Dynamite's internal team and history are joined by some of the biggest star-studded creators and friends of the company through its 20 years and the hits on the stands today.
Actors and creative minds Kyle Allen and Anders Ravenstad will take the stage to discuss their exciting new comics project Fiberglass, just announced. Kyle Allen's breakout performance came in the Hulu series The Path, alongside Aaron Paul and Michelle Monaghan. He has also appeared in the hit American Horror Story: Apocalypse, as the Jets gang member Balkan in Steven Spielberg's acclaimed modern adaptation of West Side Story, and most recently in Kenneth Branagh's A Haunting in Venice.
Another exciting surprise guest on the panel will be beloved actor Sean Gunn, known for his work with Gilmore Girls, Guardians of the Galaxy, The Suicide Squad, and much more. He'll be detailing an exciting new project with Dynamite Entertainment. Fans will have to be there!
Luke Lieberman is an essential addition, as the guiding force behind the She-Devil With a Sword, Red Sonja. He's worked with Dynamite going back to 2005, in bringing the scarlet-haired sword and sorcery heroine back to comic books after an extended absence, and to new heights she'd never before reached. His editorial influence and oversight has guided every Red Sonja comic since then, and he's often at the center of it all as a frequent writer of the character as well. His legacy with the character continues this October with the Red Sonja: Death and the Devil series.
Another Red Sonja legend and one of the biggest names in comics going back even further than Dynamite's history is Gail Simone, who also joins this panel to discuss her upcoming work on James Bond and legacy with Dynamite. Elsewhere, Gail has revolutionized the industry through work on Wonder Woman, Birds of Prey, Secret Six, Batgirl, Deadpool, and so many more. Right now she's turned her focus to perhaps her biggest project yet, at the forefront of a new era of X-Men. Yet fans know one of her definitive works is her run on Red Sonja that kicked off in 2013. She made a few fundamental tweaks to the character and her lore, which have influenced the approach of others since, and will be felt in the upcoming blockbuster film that she also played a role in. She's intermittently returned to the character over the years, through projects like Conan/Red Sonja, Red Sonja/Tarzan, and Red Sonja: Black, White & Red. Her next big project? Bond, James Bond!
One of Dynamite's biggest successes recently has been a booming rollout of titles licensed from Warner Bros. Discovery Global Consumer Products. At the forefront of the line so far has been the hits ThunderCats and Space Ghost. Writers Declan Shalvey (Moon Knight, Alien) and David Pepose (Punisher, Savage Avengers) helm those titles respectively, and their brilliant approaches and enthusiasm have led to chart-topping sales and feedback from fans. These two will also be featured on the panel.
Shalvey will also be touching on another huge upcoming title with Dynamite, The Terminator, also just announced for San Diego Comic-Con.
Fans are invited to show up to be a part of comics history, celebrate 20 years of Dynamite classics, and look forward to 20 more!
