June 20, Mt. Laurel, NJ: Dynamite announces its foray into a fresh new sphere for fans - collectible coins! Featuring the She-Devil with a Sword herself, Red Sonja, as depicted by two of her most iconic artists, Lucio Parrillo and J. Scott Campbell!
These two limited edition coins are produced using a revolutionary, high-quality colorization technique. The base coins are authentic US John F. Kennedy Half-Dollars, which have then been plated in genuine 24-karat gold.
Each coin comes with a full-color Certificate of Authenticity and a protective acrylic coin capsule. Best of all, they are in fact legal tender!
The Lucio Parrillo coin design is taken from Queen Sonja #24. While the matching J. Scott Campbell coin is based on his Red Sonja (2016) #2 cover.
Each coin carries a recommended retail price of $29.99, but are being offered at a special introductory price of $19.73 for these inaugural editions, representing the year of Red Sonja's first comic book appearance. Though their value as collectibles in the future, especially with the gold elements, is untold! So don't buy a soda with them!
"At Dynamite, we continue to release some of the best comics in the market, and also some of the coolest collectibles," said Nick Barrucci, CEO and Publisher. "In addition to our best-selling statues, fine art, trading cards and other great comic related limited items, we're always looking for new ways to brand our properties and characters, and these cool Gold Coins are a new venture, and we couldn't be prouder to start with Red Sonja."
The Red Sonja Lucio Parrillo Collectible Coin and Red Sonja J. Scott Campbell Collectible Coin will be solicited in Diamond Comic Distributors’ July 2019 Previews catalog, the premier source of merchandise for the comic book specialty market, and slated for release in September 2019.
