"Offering this signed, limited edition Green Hornet by Kevin Smith is tailor-made for Kevin Smith and Green Hornet fans.  And for those who have not  had the privilege of reading the beginnings of Kevin Smith's classic, the unsigned edition is available to help those fans who wish to catch up on the series," states Dynamite President and Publisher Nick Barrucci.  "We've been extremely fortunate to have Kevin's commitment on the Green Hornet, and proud to have been able to release the first issue on time, and each subsequent issue early.  Kevin's and Hornet fans now have two ways in which they can catch up and read the beginnings of the epic story of the new Green Hornet and Kato!"

The Green Hornet is one of comicdom's first masked crime fighters. Originally created by George W. Trendle and Fran Striker for an American radio program in the 1930's, the character has appeared in other media as well, including film serials in the 1940's, a network television program in the 1960s, and multiple comic book series from the 1940s to the 1990s. Though various incarnations sometimes change details, in most incarnations the Green Hornet is Britt Reid, a newspaper publisher by day who by night goes out in his masked "Green Hornet" identity to fight crime as a vigilante, accompanied by his similarly masked Asian manservant Kato and driving a car, equipped with advanced technology, called "Black Beauty".

The critics say - "Green Hornet" is a hit!

"It's nice to read something with the same energy of a Kevin Smith movie without immediately being able to tell it's a Kevin Smith script. He levels out his trademark styles and focuses on the action within.  Here's hoping this kind of quality can continue throughout and become an evergreen tale for this forgotten character." - Noel Bartocci, Broken Frontier

"The first issue is a lot of fun, with plenty of action and verbal darts getting thrown. The pacing as the Hornet sneaks up on a Mafia gang and a Chinese gang hoping to throw in together against the Hornet is well done." - Mel Odom, Blog Critics

"The story of a rookie Green Hornet in modern times is a good fit for Smith's writing and will hopefully reinvigorate the character.  If anything, the series will be an interesting companion piece to the feature film to be released later this year." - Andy Bentley, IGN

"This comic simply works. It makes sense. We see the original Green Hornet at the end of his career. Phil Hester did the breakdowns and Jonathan Lau does the pencils. It's a really nice looking comic. I should also mention that Ivan Nunes colors really complement the art as well. The action scenes are intense. You really get a sense that the Green Hornet and Kato are tough dudes." - G-Man, Comic Vine
