October 30, Mt. Laurel, NJ: Dynamite Entertainment is celebrating its 15th year of publishing in 2019. To celebrate this benchmark and give back to the loyal fans both new and old, the publisher is teaming up with Humble Bundle and the Comic Book Legal Defense Fund to offer an unparalleled digital comics bundle! The biggest Dynamite bundle to date!
The bundle pulls together classics, overlooked gems and today's hottest hits from throughout Dynamite's storied history. Including the very first comic published by Dynamite, Army of Darkness: Ashes 2 Ashes #1 by Andy Hartnell (Danger Girl) and a breakout performance by artist Nick Bradshaw (Wolverine & the X-Men). Other touchstones included are the earliest Red Sonja issues under the Dynamite banner, Alex Ross and Jim Krueger's Golden Age-turned anew superhero epic Project Superpowers, the mega event Chaos! by hardcore fan turned celebrated creator Tim Seeley (Nightwing), and the most ambitious Dynamite crossover to this day, Gail Simone's (Birds of Prey) Swords of Sorrow. Plus of course 2019's big mainstream rediscovery of The Boys is represented. And the biggest hits of today like the new Vampirella by Christopher Priest (Black Panther) and the critically acclaimed Peter Cannon: Thunderbolt by Kieron Gillen (Uncanny X-Men, The Wicked + The Divine).
A portion of all proceeds will be contributed to the Comic Book Legal Defense Fund. This important organization plays a pivotal role in the comic book industry and art form by researching, educating about and fighting against censorship and other injustices enacted against cartoonists and their work.
"Driven by an authentic and sincere passion for the comics medium, Dynamite creates entertaining comics for a wide range of readers. We're grateful to receive their support, which allows us to create valuable programs that ensure a strong future for comics," said Charles Brownstein, CBLDF Executive Director. "Here's to 15 years and many, many, many more!"
There's a special little story that fans can only get here too! Bestselling writer Scott Duvall (They Called Us Enemy, Army of Darkness/Bubba Ho-Tep) and artists Edu Menna (KISS: The End) and Jordan Michael Johnson (Bettie Page) have got quite the unique Army of Darkness story to celebrate the anniversary. When Ash Williams makes his way to a book signing to promote his new autobiography, a fan shows up with a different book for him to sign…the kind that is constantly out to get Ash and turn him into a deadite! Ash's plan to promote literacy becomes a life or death romp through (and under) New York you won't want to miss!
“Getting to play in Ash’s world is always a blast, so I was thrilled to be invited back to tell another Army of Darkness tale," said writer Scott Duvall. "The fact that my good friend Kelley Allen of Humble Bundle got to join Ash on his adventure and that this bundle helps benefit the CBLDF makes it all the groovier! Thanks to Nick Barrucci and the whole team at Dynamite as well as Humble for making this happen.”
"It has been a long and exciting road over these past 15 years, with plenty of challenges and proud achievements, and I can honestly say we're only just getting warmed up," said Nick Barrucci, Dynamite CEO and Publisher. "Through Dynamite, we've had the chance to work with countless talented creators and franchises. From The Boys, to Vampirella and Red Sonja, to Nancy Drew and Atari, we're always striving to deliver the most enjoyable stories for fans. This bundle encompasses as much of that tapestry as we could stuff in it, and we're proud to be offering it alongside our buddies at Humble Bundle and the CBLDF."
