August 13, Mt. Laurel, NJ: The Daughter of Drakulon has faced death and rebirth, and lived to tell the tale. Now this November, Tom Sniegoski's three decades and running chronicles of Vampirella continue in Paradise.
Fan-favorite writer Sniegoski and artist Edu Menna reunite for the next chapter in this continuity which has put the raven-haired anti-heroine through the ringer in recent years. At the finale of the preceding series Vampirella Armageddon, Almighty God bestowed upon Vampi a wondrous gift — yet the dreamlike paradise she finds herself in is not what it seems.
Classic foes from her rogues gallery return, as the Mad God of Chaos and the Blood Red Queen of Hearts haunt and corrupt this new world. It's up to Vampirella to unfold the darkness as she is called to battle once more!
Sniegoski is approaching this latest chapter through a unique lens, following Armageddon which served as a final, apocalyptic battle between light and darkness. That chapter brought some things full circle, tying up certain key themes and threads that have run through his Vampirella works going back to the early 1990s. Now Paradise answers a crucial question — what if Vampirella finally caught a break? But of course, it's not quite that easy... so where will the most prolific creator in Vampirella's history take her next?
"It always amazes me how much Vampirella I’ve written," said Tom Sniegoski. "She’s been part of my professional writing career for basically as long as I’ve had a professional writing career! I don’t think I ever really expected to have the kind of relationship that I have with her. Initially, way back when in the nineties, I thought I would write her for a bit, and move on, but the more I wrote her, her world, and the many characters that she interacts with, I found a nearly never-ending source of material. Just when I think I might be done, she pokes me in the brain and says, ‘what if we did this?’ I love the opportunity to come up with new stories to tell about her that continue to excite me, and hopefully excite the fans of the character. I know I’ve said this before, but writing Vampirella brings me great comfort. It’s like slipping into a nice warm sweater on a really cold day."
In addition to the gorgeous artwork of Edu Menna, this new series has the ultimate crimson cherry on top with a range of jaw-dropping covers. Superstar Francesco Mattina returns to the character and leads the theme of fabulous frames around these masterpieces. Vampi mainstay Joseph Michael Linsner joins the party. While this book marks the Dynamite Debut of artist Josephine Tomarchio, with an instant classic. Cosplayer Lauren Delorean is featured on a cover. Collectors can seek out the mystery blind bag for even rarer versions of these covers and other surprises!
