Elvira Meets H.P. Lovecraft in New Comic!
Accepting the Collect Call of Cthulhu!

November 20, Mt. Laurel, NJ:
This February it isn't quite love in the air, but a horror rendezvous for the ages when Elvira officially comes face to face with the legendary H.P. Lovecraft!

Maestro scribe of the Mistress of the Dark, David Avallone (Bettie Page, Drawing Blood), continues his epic chronicles of the beloved horror hostess with the most-est. In her critically acclaimed and fan pleasing comic books from Dynamite, Elvira has crossed paths with the likes of Mary Shelley, Edgar Allen Poe, Bram Stoker, and even recently fellow horror screen icon Vincent Price. Now she finds herself haunted by the ghost of one of the most influential and infamous horror visionaries ever. It had to happen eventually, and H.P. Lovecraft is joining the Elvira-verse!

This unlikely duo are setting out on a comical quest for the last copy of the Necronomicon. Is Elvira going to be able to tolerate Lovecraft's peculiarities long enough to save the world from the Great Old Ones? Or will this Whisperer in the Dark drive her straight past the Mountains of Madness?

Avallone and Elvira herself are joined for this eldritch tale of cosmic comedy and tentacled terror by artist Kewber Baal (Elvira in Monsterland, Vampirella), with covers by Baal, original Dynamite Elvira artist Dave Acosta, as well as the heralded return of Robert Hack to the character. Plus, of course, no Elvira comic is complete without the option of a photo cover of the legend herself!

This series follows the riotous fun of Elvira in Horrorland and Elvira in Monsterland, which treated fans to the "Multiverse of Movies" and some incredible monster throwdowns. Now, both new readers and the Elvira-faithful can jump right into this story, and Lovecraft fans are welcome as well!

"True Lovecraft fans will find a lot of echoes and Easter Eggs from his work," said writer David Avallone. "My dad had a copy of The Dunwich Horror and Other Stories when I was growing up, and I read it at a fairly young age. I was blown away by the writing and the imagination: it felt like 'what if Poe wrote sci-fi?' I also noticed, even then, that so much of his horror reflected his fear of the “other” and the unknown, and how it turned ugly when those fears extended to his fellow human beings and not just tentacled space monsters. We deal with that head on and — I hope — find comedy in this early 20th century ghost, with all his fears and prejudices, having to face a very different world from the one he left behind, as he embarks on this crazy quest with a woman who will take no crap from him."

In addition to the new series, Dynamite is delivering a book with real hex appeal this February. Elvira: Mistress of the Dark Volume 3 collects issues #9-12 of Dynamite's initial series. It's the perfect Valentine's Day gift for that special someone!

ELVIRA MEETS H.P. LOVECRAFT #1 will be solicited in Diamond Comic Distributors’ December 2023 Previews catalog, the premier source of merchandise for the comic book specialty market, and slated for release in February 2024. Comic book fans are encouraged to preorder copies of the book with their local comic book retailers.
