RED SONJA COVER BY ADAM HUGHES "IMMORTALIZED"!
Dynamite Re-Solicits Statue Based on Rare RRP Cover by Adam Hughes

    June 29, 2007, Runnemede, NJ
    - Dynamite Entertainment announced that the Dynamite Select: Adam Hughes Red Sonja Statue (JUN073401) has been re-solicited and is extremely limited-only 564 pieces made!!! Also re-solicited, the Dynamite Select: Adam Hughes Red Sonja Statue- Diamond Eye Edition (JUN073402), featuring real gems and a certificate of authenticity signed by artist Adam Huges! This amazing piece is limited to only 138 pieces in the world. Dynamite asks that retailers triple check their original orders, and re-order, as this piece may be severely allocated.

Based on the cover of the EXTREMELY RARE RRP edition of Red Sonja #2 by Adam Hughes, this 9" tall rendition of the She-Devil with a sword was beautifully sculpted by Shawn Nagle, who has produced pieces for Marvel, Toybiz, Diamond and Neca.

Dynamite stated, "This year celebrates the 35th anniversary of Red Sonja's first comic book appearance in Conan the Barbarian #23 (Marvel Comics, 1972). What's more, Sonja's Dynamite series is reaching an exciting milestone, issue #25, where the She-Devil will once again face off against Kulan Gath! And, what may be the Hyborian highlight of the summer, Sonja is teaming up with Spider-Man for the first time since the now classic Marvel Team-Up #79 (Marvel Comics, 1979) by Chris Claremont and John Byrne. On top of it all, now we have the opportunity to offer Red Sonja in this amazing statue based on the RRP edition of Red Sonja #2 by Adam Hughes.

"In the formula for Red Sonja's success, of course, are the 4 "C"'s - the character, creators, the concept and the (alternate) covers :-)! In addition to our regular team of Michael Avon Oeming, Mel Rubi, Brian Buchellato and Stephen Sadowski, there have been so many great creators chipping in- Frank Cho, Jim Lee, Roy Thomas, John Romita (Jr. and Sr.), Michael Turner, Marc Silvestri- the list goes on. The cover that Adam Hughes did for the RRP of issue #2 is a great contribution, and we are absolutely ecstatic to be able to bring his work to life. From the Amazons to Zatanna, Adam's portraits of the women of comics are infallible. And to have the hands of Shawn Nagle produce this piece is something amazing on its own. Shawn has sculpted some of the greatest comic and cinema characters of all time, never missing a single detail. His sculpture of Red Sonja is no exception- Shawn sculpted the She-Devil with a sword masterfully, bringing out every detail of this rare edition. And Adam loved it, which is the highest honor we could get!"

i don't do the statue collecting thing...but if i did, that silvestri rendition of RS is even better...not to take anything away from the hughes one, which is still good.

Looks like a skeleton with boobs hanging off of it. There's no shape to the legs at all, and the forearms look like they're about to snap.

          sounds like someone likes 'em....thick...

although Red Sonja has never really been portrayed that way. she's always been the lithe, albeit busty, she devil with a sword.

Yeah got to agree, skeleton with boobs. It looked so well at one angle and then when you see the actual statue all around it is easy to point these problems. Those forearms do look like they could snap if I even touch them. Also, I think the arm without the sword has bigger muscles than the one with the sword. I hope that Linser statue does not have any problems like this. Also, for those that PREVIEWS this Hughs statue, does that mean their orders are cancelled and they need to re-order it?
